Alexis Bledel stars as Frederick Aiken’s sweetheart Sarah Weston in her newest film, The Conspirator. The movie opened in April and comes to DVD on August 16th. To promote the release, a number of new stills of the film, including of Alexis, have been released.

In addition to appearing at the Washington premiere of The Conspirator, Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) also walked the red carpet at the subsequent New York Premiere for the movie in April.

Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) was recently on Conan on TBS to talk about her new movie, The Conspirator. The interview opens up with talk of Gilmore Girls since the Conan studio is a few hundred feet from the old Stars Hollow town square (*sniff*).
Alexis shares some personal stories and about how she needs to put make-up on to “look older” and be taken more seriously. Crazy!

In the wake of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, seven men and one woman are arrested and charged with conspiring to kill the President, Vice President, and Secretary of State. The lone woman charged, Mary Surratt, owns a boarding house where John Wilkes Booth, and others met and planned the simultaneous attacks.
Against the ominous back-drop of post-Civil War Washington, newly-minted lawyer, Frederick Aiken, a 28-year-old Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt before a military tribunal. Aiken realizes his client may be innocent and that she is being used as bait and hostage in order to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt, her own son, John. As the nation turns against her, Surratt is forced to rely on Aiken to uncover the truth and save her life.

Alexis Bledel headed up from Fashion Week to Toronto for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her latest film, The Conspirator. Here she is today at the film festival press conference, which took place before the premiere:
The Conspirator is an historical drama about the trial of Mary Surratt, the only female co-conspirator in the Abraham Lincoln assassination and the first woman to be hanged by the United States federal government. Alexis stars as Sarah Weston, wife to Frederick Aiken (McAvoy), a war hero who defends Surratt and believes her to be innocent and believes she is being used as bait and hostage in order to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt, her own son.
