Marion Ross in “Keeping Up With The Randalls”

Marion Ross (Lorelai ‘Trix’ Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) stars in the upcoming tv movie on Hallmark, Keeping Up with the Randalls. She stars as Grandma Dorie, someone not quite as sweet as she looks (sound familiar?). The film will make its first premiere on July 16th.

Summary: Alicia Crosby is a hugely successful children’s fashion designer based in Los Angeles. Her personal life is equally successful as Alicia suspects her boyfriend Will Randall is going to pop the question any day now. But first, Alicia must survive meeting Will’s family, which means getting down and dirty in their family’s annual ‘Reunion Races’ where she is up against everyone from Will’s mom, Barb, his dad, Doug, his seemingly sweet Grandma Dorie, to even Will’s ex-girlfriend, Kris

The episode, ‘Shiny Happy People’, had both actors in poignant roles. Emily Bergl played a burn victim, Trisha, who was best friends with another burn victim, each trying to put on a brace face for the other.

Marion Ross played Betty, a woman re-united with Henry, a man whom she’d loved – but not married – over 50 years before. Each had lived separate lives but now had a chance for a ‘do over’, so to speak. Their story of love would touch many people in this episode! It was a good one!

Gilmore Girls Trivia: Jason Stiles

Here’s the answer to our last trivia question: What actor represented two characters in the same episode?Marion Ross

  • Lauren Graham as Lorelai and Rory 16 – 2% of all votes
  • Marion Ross as Lorelai (Trix) Gilmore and Maryln 481 – 74% of all votes
  • Scott Patterson as Luke and Bag Clerk 19 – 3% of all votes
  • Cameron Bender as Prof Tucker and Student Extra 133 – 20% of all votes

Kudos to Rob for realizing this was a carefully worded question! Marion Ross played Lorelai “Trix” Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, but she also plays the crazy cousin Marilyn! In 4.16 “The Reigning Lorelai“, Trix had died but Marilyn was in the episode. Marion Ross thus represented two characters in that episode. ;)
