Lorelai and Luke react to their first kiss. Lorelai and Rory have a big fight over Rory sleeping with Dean. Emily announces she’s separated from Richard and going to Europe. Lorelai suggests Rory go with her. Rory is angry with Lorelai and is happy to leave.
5.02 "A Messenger, Nothing More"

Rory is off touring Europe with Emily. She writes a letter to Dean, hoping to fix all the mess she feels she made. However, the letter makes things worse when Lindsay finds it and kicks Dean out.
Luke and Lorelai go on their first date together. After sleeping with Luke, Lorelai goes downstairs to get coffee (wearing only Luke’s shirt) and finds herself standing in front of a full Diner.

Frustrated with Taylor’s obstuctionism, Jackson decides to run for town selectman. He gets in over his head.
Lorelai and Luke double date with Dean and Rory. It doesn’t go well.
Norman Mailer visits the Inn but never orders anything more than lemonade. Sookie realizes she’s pregnant with her second baby. Rory does research on the ‘Life and Death Brigade’ for the Yale Daily News. It leads her back to Logan Huntzberger.
Rory gets an overnight inside-scoop on the ‘Life and Death Brigade’ that takes her inside a world of the rich and powerful. Emily insists on meeting Luke, but finds him unsuitable. Luke plays golf with Richard, who suggests Luke franchise his diner. He suggests Luke become a figurehead.
Emily and Richard host a Yale alumni party (which includes the sons of Yale alumni). Rory is the unknowing guest-of-honor. Luke, Lorelai and TJ have a complicated dinner.
Emily goes on a date. Christopher visits Stars Hollow with his baby daughter, Gigi. He has lunch with Lorelai.
Rory shows a student from Chilton around Yale, but she’s a handful. Lorelai learns of Luke’s annual ‘dark day.’ Rory is embarrassed by Logan and his friends during her class.
A dog temporarily reunites Richard and Emily. Stars Hollow holds the annual Revolutionary War reenactment – with some changes. Chris tries to mend his relationship with Rory.
Emily and Richard are reunited after a fender bender. Emily tries to get Luke out of Lorelai’s life, and Christopher back into it.
This is the 100th episode of Gilmore Girls. Richard and Emily renew their wedding vows in an elaborate ceremonty. Christopher tries to get together with Lorelai, even though Luke is there as her date. Rory is caught by them with Logan – with her shirt partially open, making out with him. Logan cathers his clothes and leaves.
Lorelai must deal with her break-up with Luke.
Lorelai helps with the costumes for "Fiddler on the Roof" – Luke helps with props. Rory reveals her feelings for Logan… and Marty reveals his feelings for Rory.
Lorelai refuses to speak with Emily after her actions at the vow renewal. Rory talks with Emily – or rather, yells.
A Quentin Tarantino-themed party takes the Rory & Logan relationship to a new level. Lorelai celebrates getting back together with Luke, but still freezes out Emily. Michel wins a motor home from ‘The Price is Right.’
Luke helps Taylor renovate and old house into a museum. Rory, Paris and Lane get drunk at the opening of the museum and speak about their love lives.
Rory lets Logan know she’s a "girlfriend-girl" and Logan takes that as an ultimatum. He is scared to leave her, so decides to commit. Logan takes Rory to meet his parents, but they do not accept her (and let her know it).
Rory works as an intern for Mitchum Huntzberger. Emily and Richard host a dinner for Logan.
Sookie’s baby arrives early. Lorelai insults Emily in an article about the Dragonfly Inn. Kirk outbids Luke for the Twickham house. Rory is upset when Mitchum tells her she couldn’t be a real journalist.
Rory and Logan steal a yacht – Rory being upset after what Mitchum said to her. Rory decides to take time off from Yale. Lorelai is angry by this, and more hurt and angry when Rory decides to go live with her grandparents. Lorelai asks Luke to marry her.
