I was an extra on a Gilmore Girls that filmed on October 5, 2006. I remember that Patty’s was decorated for Halloween. Do you have any idea what episode that was? Scott Patterson was filming that day.

Hallo Phil! We’re honored to have an official alumnus!

I remember there were pumpkins outside Miss Patty’s after the Town Meeting in season 3 (Take the Deviled Eggs)… but filming in 2006 means it must have been season 7 which aired between September 2006 and May 2007. And if it was Halloween it must have been before episode 10 – when Luke and Christopher brawled over Christmas decorations… I think it’s gotta be the Pickles episode, season 7 episode 5. There was the town meeting in Miss Patty’s. Oh look, there are jack-o-lantern paper lanterns, that’ll be it.

Hope that helps. We would LOVE to hear about anything you remember from your time on set Phil! Regardless, thanks for dropping in.

Mike – Thanks for the reply! That might be it. My buddy and I were doing some freelance stuff on ER and for some Disney stuff and I had my old army jacket on and we of course ignored the red warning light that they were filming. We were just approaching Patty’s on our left while I believe in the distance straight ahead they were filming in the diner. There as nothing going on in Patty’s. As we got closer, a guy in an alley whispers loudly to us, “Hey, you want to be street people in this scene? Sign this.” and that was that. There were a bunch of people standing around looking like bored townfolk, many with shopping bags in their hands. He told us just to keep walking and then somebody shouted “Action” and everyone started walking like they were actually going somewhere. The only part Patty’s played in it was we walked past it and it had all sort of pumpkins and jack o’ lanterns on it. I never found out what episode it was nor did I ever see it. I think I got a dollar bill as a release, and that was my claim to TV fame. I believe Scott, Melissa and Sally were all there, but I was a little far away to make sure. I didn’t see my heartthrob, Lorelai. It was also the same day Clint Eastwood was on the grounds in one of the buildings doing a talk for a bunch of foreign reporters on his upcoming “Flags of Our Fathers”. Nice guy. BTW, I am NOT the Phil Rosenthal from “Everyone Loves Raymond”. I live in Marietta, GA and my only claim to entertainment fame was 2 books I wrote about the Alamo!!!! Thanks again!

Another story of what happened that day. “ER” was also filming and they were on lunch break and Scott Grimes was having a smoke and a salad at the luncheonette right off the set. We got into a conversation – he’s a real nice, regular guy who has been in a million projects – and found we had a lot in common – being originally from the northeast like me, he’s a hockey player (I played; he was a hockey player in “Mystery Alaska” and he looked pretty good playing); music – both of us play guitar in bands; and the ARMY (I served 9 years as a “grunt” and he played one in “Band of Brothers”)…
