Melissa McCarthy a Queen of Comedy

EW has dubbed Melissa McCarthy (Sookie on Gilmore Girls) as the new “Queen of Comedy” on their October 28 magazine edition. They sat down with her for an aptly comedic photoshoot and interview.

Melissa talks about being an “atypical” body weight:

“Do I sometimes hope I wake up in the morning and people are like, ‘What’s wrong with her? She looks emaciated,’ ” she says. “Of course I would love that. I’m such a clothes whore I would love the opportunity to be a hanger. But I think I’m more confident than I’ve ever felt in my life.”

Melissa’s husband Ben Falcone recently opened up about their amazing relationship here.

Melissa McCarthy THR Profile & Photos

Melissa McCarthy (Sookie on Gilmore Girls) is the new “IT Girl” of Hollywood, it would seem, gaining a lot of notoriety since her Emmy win. Just last week, she posed for a stunning shoot with The Hollywood Reporter, talking (and trying not to cry) about how amazing the experience has been.

The interview is fantastic, with Melissa shining through as a wonderful and genuinely humble actress, noting her reaction for getting on SNL as:

“I went into such an embarrassing, weird, inappropriately loud cry,” says McCarthy of her response, laughing about a story she shares often. “Annie was running in circles. She thinks something horrible is happening because I’m bent over, literally, in the rug section of Living Spaces wailing.”

The article includes quotes from many people who have worked with Melissa, all praising her and saying how happy they are that roles are coming along where Melissa can “show what she can do.” One such thing will be Melissa’s upcoming new line for plus-sized women AND a production company with husband Ben Falcone – how does she manage it all?! Learn more about other projects she’s working on in the interview.

Lauren Graham SELF Magazine Photoshoot Video

Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) recently graced the cover of SELF magazine, challenging herself to get in shape. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at her stunning photoshoot:

Lauren Graham on SELF Magazine

Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) recently challenged herself to get fit before the third season of Parenthood began. When invited to be on the cover of SELF, she set herself a goal to get fit in just 5 weeks.

Here’s how the article begins:

Challenge on!

It’s 87 degrees, and I am on my 14th lap around a high school track. Whose idea was this?

Oh, mine. I’d wanted a fitness challenge. I’ve always been athletic, but I was in a slump. I’d been Spinning, running and hiking, but that didn’t seem to be having a big impact on my body or fitness level. I felt as if my efforts were all for nothing and maybe shoe shopping with my sister Shade would be a better use of time.

What could I do if I pushed past my limits? Could I get leaner? More toned? When SELF invited me to be on the cover, I told the editors I wanted to try training like an athlete. Good news: They loved the idea and said they had the perfect trainer for me. Bad news: I had only five weeks until the cover shoot, during which I’d be traveling a lot. I panicked.

Lauren’s training included using a heart-rate monitor to be in the right fat-burning range, working out longer, and drinking water.

“Apartment 23″ Preview With Krysten Ritter

Krysten Ritter (Lucy on Gilmore Girls) will be starring in a new series on ABC this Fall, Apartment 23, which previously had a much longer and more controversial name. ABC has already given the series a full season order, so that’s a good sign!

After a naïve Midwestern girl’s big city dreams are dashed her first week in New York, she finds herself living with her worst nightmare in this hilarious, contemporary comedy about a female odd couple who are surrounded by an outrageous cast of characters.

June (Dreama Walker) moves to Manhattan for a dream job and the perfect company apartment, only to have them disappear in a puff of reality, thanks to a CEO from the Bernie Madoff school of embezzlement. Deep in debt and out on the streets, June scrambles to land a job and place to live. It seems her luck has turned around when she gets hired at a coffee shop and finds Chloe (Krysten Ritter), a charming, vivacious roommate… with the morals of a pirate. She swindles June out of all her savings, but she and her snarky friend, James Van Der Beek (playing himself), soon learn that, just because June’s naïve, she isn’t stupid. June ingeniously turns the tables on Chloe, who is so shocked about being scammed herself that she decides to pull June into her colorful band of friends. Sure, it’s all dysfunctional, bizarre and overwhelming, but so is New York City. And with the help of Chloe and the other oddballs around her, June might just learn the survival secrets she needs to make it there.

The series co-stars Dreama Walker, Eric Andrew, Michael Blaiklock and James Van Der Beek.
