Melissa McCarthy in “Identity Thief”

Melissa McCarthy (Sookie on Gilmore Girls), who currently stars in the tv show Mike & Molly, also stars in the newly-released movie, Identity Thief, a movie about a man (Jason Bateman as Sandy Patterson) who has his identity stolen by a woman.

The movie is being praised by many critics, most of whom praiseMelissa McCarthy for her comedic delivery, calling her a “master” for her “her natural ability to garner both laughs and affectionate sighs from her audience.” The New York Times even called Melissa the “bliss” of the film. 

Melissa Attacked by Reviewer – Low Blow

Despite it’s success at the box office and with reviews, the New York Observer‘s Rex Reed took some low shots at Melissa’s size, using terrible words to describe her. Calling her a “gimmick comedian,” he followed up by calling the beautiful Melissa words such as “hippo” and much worse, which is pains me to even mention. Makes me sick. And that he could even imply that her success was due to her size and not her talent is just as bad.

Thankfully, I’m not the only one sickened by this low blow. Hollywood and fans around the world have been in an uproar about the comments.

Arielle Kebbel in “Answer This”

Arielle Kebbel (Lindsay Lister then Forester on Gilmore Girls) stars in the independent film Answer Me, which is currently finishing up some of its first premieres.

Summary: A brilliant trivia whiz, Paul Tarson (Christopher Gorham) is great at answering life’s little questions, but horrible at answering the big ones – like what’s he going to do after grad school?

Arielle stars in the film as Naomi, a girl that Paul falls for… who is also his student.

Alexis Bledel in “The Brass Teapot”

Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) stars in the drama The Brass Teapot, a film that centres on a young broke couple who steal a teapot that produces cash whenever someone feels pain. The film co-stars Juno Temple, Michael Angarano and Alia Shawkat – Alexis doesn’t have a role as one in the two leads, but is a supporting actor in the cast as Payton.

Edward Herrmann’s “Bucky Larson” Film Coming Soon

Edward Herrmann (Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) stars in the upcoming film, Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star, coming to theatres on September 9th, 2011. The movie tells the story of a kid from the Midwest who moves out to Hollywood in order to follow in his parents footsteps — and become a porn star. Edward Herrmann is the father, ex-porn star.

Edward Herrmann (Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) stars in the upcoming Holiday 2011 film, The Christmas Pageant, a tv movie which will premiere on the Hallmark Channel.

Summary: Vera Parks (Gilbert), an overly intense and demanding Broadway director gets fired from yet another job, leaving her no choice but to take a gig directing a small town Christmas pageant in upstate New York. Stunned at how basic the production is, Vera attempts to back out, but is convinced by some of the locals to give their town a chance. To her surprise, the warmth and charm of the small town grows on Vera and she even enjoys the experience of directing the pageant. When Vera discovers her former fiancé Jack (Mailhouse) recommended her for the job, she is outraged. But over time Vera appreciates the gesture, as she grows close to both Jack and his young daughter (Wynn). Will love stay in the wings this time around? Or is this Vera’s eleven o’clock number after all?

“Killing Bono” With Krysten Ritter Sets US Release Date

Krysten Ritter (Lucy on Gilmore Girls) co-stars in the 2011 upcoming film, Killing Bono, which was just acquired by ARC Entertainment and XLrator Media for North American distribution.

The film will first go out for VOD in October, followed by a theatrical release a month later.

Summary: The film tells the story of young Irish rock musician Neil McCormick and his brother Ivan. They try to become rock stars in Dublin but are upstaged by four of their friends when they form the band U2 and become the biggest rock stars in the world. Pic’s an adaptation of Neil McCormick’s memoir Killing Bono: I Am Bono’s Doppelganger.

Marion Ross in “Keeping Up With The Randalls”

Marion Ross (Lorelai ‘Trix’ Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) stars in the upcoming tv movie on Hallmark, Keeping Up with the Randalls. She stars as Grandma Dorie, someone not quite as sweet as she looks (sound familiar?). The film will make its first premiere on July 16th.

Summary: Alicia Crosby is a hugely successful children’s fashion designer based in Los Angeles. Her personal life is equally successful as Alicia suspects her boyfriend Will Randall is going to pop the question any day now.
