Melissa McCarthy Works on “Tammy”

Melissa McCarthy (Sookie on Gilmore Girls) has many projects on the go right now – what a fantastic year for her! Aside from starring in Mike & Molly, and starting her own plus-sized fashion line, she is co-creating a new comedy series for CBS, is tapped for a new Judd Apatow film, and sold her first script to Paramount Pictures.

In addition to all of that awesomeness, Melissa is now in talks with Tate Taylor (director of The Help) for a film called Tammy for New Line Cinema.

According to the news, the comedy project was created by Melissa McCarthy with husband Ben Falcone. The project centres on an “overweight woman who is laid off from her job at Hardee’s, discovers her husband is having an affair, and decides to go on a road trip with her alcoholic, foul-mouthed, diabetic grandmother.”

Bizarre, but fun.

“Violet & Daisy” to Premiere at TIFF

Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) stars in Violet & Daisy, a film about two teenage assassins who land in a complicated job. Alexis Bledel and Saoirse Ronan star as the assassins. It has just been announced that Violet & Daisy will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) starting on September 15th.

Alexis is said to provide “surprising fury” to the film. Apparently the girls accept what they think will be a tidy job, going about their business as if it completely doesn’t affect them, but their target Michael (James Gandolfini) turns out to be someone other than they expected.
