“Where You Lead” on American Idol

During this week’s American Idol performance, the top 6 performed songs by legend Carole King. Contestant Lauren Alaina performed “Where You Lead I Will Follow,” a song I’m sure you all know from Gilmore Girls – the theme song!

For comparison, here’s the Gilmore Girls version of “Where You Lead”:

How did you like Lauren Alaina’s rendition?

Aaron Berman, the author of the book, hinted a while ago about the contest, and now it’s here! Thanks to Aaron, I have one copy of the book to give away to a dedicated Gilmore Girls fan!

How to Enter

Simply leave a comment on this post. I encourage you to be creative, however, and challenge you to answer this question: What is your most memorable Gilmore Girls watching experience?

My experience, for example, is in watching ‘Raincoats and Recipes.’ I was away on a family vacation with my mom but we were determined to watch this season finale. We sat down with my cousins and I vividly recall the experience of us all yelling at the tv when Rory made her decision to be the ‘other woman’ in Dean’s life.

The contest will close on March 15th at 2pm PST. The winner will be drawn randomly and will be emailed to ask for his/her address and will be announced here on the site.

One entry per person. A valid email address must be included in the email part of the comment form.

Sebastian Bach Lands Multi-Album Contract

Sebastian Bach (Gil on Gilmore Girls) has experienced a mixture of bad and good fortunes lately. On the bad front, it was recently announced that he and his wife, Maria Bierk, are getting divorced after 9 years of marriage and 3 children. Always sad news to hear.

On the flip side, Bach has landed with Frontiers Records for a multi-album, worldwide recording contract. He is heading to the studio this month to work on his new album, which could come out as early as this summer.

“Expect an album full of high-energy rock n’ roll with kick-ass clean and clear vocals, along with me laying down the craziest screams I have recorded in my life thus far”

Sebastian Bach has tweeted from time to time about his frustration with landing big record deals, so I’m quite excited for him!

Riki Lindhome: New CD & HBO Pilot Development

Riki Lindhome (Juliet from the Life & Death Brigade on Gilmore Girls), apart from acting, is a musician along with Kate Micucci. Together they form a comedy-folk duo called Garfunkel and Oates. Garfunkel and Oates just released a new CD, All Over Your Face, on February 1st (explicit music). Not only that, there’s the potential that the musical pair will get an HBO series, as they’ve been signed on to develop a comedy based on the Garfunkel and Oates musical act.

The LA Times recently interviewed the duo, and took these great photos:

Looks like there’s a lot on the horizon for Riki!

“The Gilmore Girls Companion” Inspired Gilmore Girls Marathon

Aaron Berman‘s soon-to-be cult favourite, The Gilmore Girls Companion, arrived on my doorstep this afternoon! Here it is, my very own copy for review! While I could just do a traditional book review, I’m not going to! What I’m going to do, instead, is something that involves YOU, the best fan community out there!

So, Gilmore Girls fans, get out your DVDs! We are going to begin watching Gilmore Girls over again, and I’ll be taking inspiration from The Gilmore Girls Companion for our discussion questions. I’m going to aim for 2 discussions per week. After that, I’ll do a traditional-ish review of the book and of all the goodies that I’m not going to be giving away every week! ;)

Are you ready?! If you want to read along with me too, order your copy of the book here

P.S. a little bird told me that another copy may just have YOUR name on it soon too! Stay tuned!
