In The Gilmore Girls Companion, Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) shares that one of her favourite scenes in Gilmore Girls comes from the third episode of the series. In that episode, there’s a shot where Lauren Graham‘s (Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) smooths away Alexis Bledel‘s (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) hair:

“I thought, ‘ What a beautiful gesture.’ That was… something that Lauren was doing in terms of showing affection for her daughter.”

The little behind-the-scenes interview talks about these natural gestures between the two actresses, things that were unscripted.

Gilmore Girls Collectibles on Auction

Michael Ausiello has put together a SWAG auction of merchandise he’s received as a TV reviewer over the years. Included in the auction…. two Gilmore GIrls collectibles!!

First up, the actual stationary prop used at the Dragonfly Inn for filming. Included are multiple sheets of stationary in letter and note-sized format.

Second, a Gilmore Girls script for the 100th episode, ‘Wedding Bell Blues‘ signed by Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) and Scott Patterson (Luke Danes on Gilmore Girls)!

Third, the shooting script for ‘How Many Kropogs to Cape Cod?‘ and fourth, a promo VHS for the pilot episode and ‘Kill Me Now’.

The signed script is the highest bidding item so far.

A Gilmore Girls Holiday – Fan Fiction

Last week I challenged you to think up some ideas for how Rory & Lorelai would throw a Gilmore Girls New Years Eve party. Well, Gilmore Girls fan Daniel put together some fan fiction chronicling that event! Check it out!

“No, no, no, no,” Rory said, the no repeated rapidly, “No, I won’t dress up this year! Why should I dress up?!”

“When did you ever dress up?” Lorelai asked.

“Each time Miss Patty does something, I end up dressed up in fantasy! And this year, I know, she wants me to be dressed like a swan!”

“The Tchaikovsky little swan, yes, you’ll be very funny dressed like a swan!”

“Oh, no, no, no, no! I know what this smile of yours means!”

“What does it mean?”

“That you’ve told Patty that I’ll be dressed up like a Swan! But I won’t! Logan’s coming, the first time after five years, and I don’t want him to see me dressed like that, and laughing at me! That’s out of the question.”

“Ha, ha, he could play the ducky duck!”

“What?!”

“The ducky ducky duck, like the duchy ducky duck! in duchy duck”

“What! There’s no such a story!”

“Never mind!”

Let’s Plan A Gilmore Girls New Years Eve

gilmore-girls-couple.jpgI hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, if that’s what you celebrate. I took a little opportunity myself to take a few days off from the computer – but I’m back now! And I thought I’d drum up a little list in honour of the upcoming New Years celebrations!

We’ve seen the Gilmore girls party it up for Christmas, birthdays, and events of all sizes… so, I got to wondering…

What would a Gilmore Girls New Years Eve party look like? I thought of a few questions and ideas to start off the brainstorming…

  • Would they dress up fancy or have a costume party?
  • Sookie would cook, of course, and there would be LOTS of junk food
  • The party could be at Miss Patty’s or maybe outside in the Town Square
  • Hep Alien would play
  • Kirk would barge on stage to do some weird miming musical number
  • There would be games, like a festival! Or maybe Karaoke?
  • Maybe they could have an auction-the-kiss game for the midnight kiss
  • Would there be fireworks? Would Taylor allow it?
  • Who would be the bartender? Kirk?
  • Luke would have to open his Diner after the party because everyone would need a place to sober up and drink coffee

What are your ideas?? How would Lorelai & Rory put together a NYE party??

The much-awaited Gilmore Girls Companion is coming soon! Author Aaron Berman has written this unauthorized look at the series, which can be ordered here.

Aaron has released several sample pages from the book, which includes an episode-by-episode look at the series as well as many exclusive interviews! It’s super comprehensive and laid out in a fun way.

Hopefully we can use the book as a good launching pad for more Gilmore Girls discussions… what do you think?
