In ‘The Lorelais’ First Day at Yale‘, we are introduced to a new pop culture phrase: “Copper Boom.” At the start of the episode, Rory is packing her makeup, asking herself “When did I become one of those girls with dozens of beauty products, none of which are expendable? It used to be a touch of mascara, dab of Coppertone, zip, bam, boom, out the door.” However, Lorelai heard “copper and boom,” which they then turn into their own catch phrase.

Well, Lorelai makes it a catch phrase. Later, she says “Copper Boom”, saying it’s what Rory had said to her when she was trying to speed her up. Obviously that wasn’t what was being said, but now they have a phrase which means “to hurry up” or to “get to it.”. It’s even in the urban dictionary and there’s also a t-shirt designed around it!
