Does Luke Want Kids?

In ‘The New and Improved Lorelai Gilmore‘, Luke confesses that he wants kids. Or doesn’t. That it doesn’t matter. Really, it’s best to quote him:

“I bought a house. The Twickham house. I bought it for us. I don’t have it anymore. I can probably get it back. But I just thought you should know that I bought it. For the kids… that we don’t have to have. It’s a big house, and you don’t have to fill it up with kids. We can get furniture, you know. Go shopping for a couch, get some end tables… I hate shopping for furniture. For me, kids are easier.”

What do you think – does Luke want kids or not? Why does he stay on the fence about it?

Why Does Lorelai Redo the Garage?

In ‘Jews and Chinese Food’, Lorelai redoes her garage to be her “special alone space” now that Luke’s boat is no longer in storage there. The garage has always been a place for ‘crap’, for storage, so why does Lorelai need a “special alone space” now? As Luke points out, “you got a whole house of special alone space.”

Lorelai argued, “I never park my car in here! I have never, ever parked my car in here, Luke! And you know that! But I come home to this big, huge, suddenly empty space, and I thought I would try to do something nice, so it wasn’t just a giant hole of depression sitting out here!”

Was that it? Or was there more to it?

The Luck of Weddings

In ‘Say Something’, we have the sad official break-up between Luke & Lorelai. This occurs as the result of events at Emily & Richard’s “wedding” – the vow renewal. This is a coincidence because Luke & Lorelai first started really hitting it off “officially” at Liz & TJs wedding.

So, do you think this connection was on purpose for the writers? So it began, so it also can end?

Does Lorelai Know She’s Serious About Luke?

In ‘Come Home’, Lorelai spends the night with Luke, going to bed at his early bedtime because he has to get up at 4am for deliveries. Her logic: every night they spend apart because of the deliveries is a night they could have been together. Awww! So, Lorelai obviously wants to be with Luke every night…. but do you think she realizes yet how serious she is about Luke? Or is she just going with the flow?

Do You Have A Dark Day?

In ‘But Not As Cute As Pushkin’, we find out that Luke has a ‘Dark Day’. Everyone in Stars Hollow, except for Lorelai, knows about this dark day. A day when he is known each year to completely disappear from Stars Hollow. Nobody knows where to or why it happens. In the end, it was not hard to understand why. The dark day was Luke remembering his father on the anniversary of his death. It puts him in a funk so he takes off and keeps to himself.

Do you get this way over anything, either sad or maybe even happy? Of course, I don’t want you getting all sad thinking about something you may wish to keep private, but I’m curious if there is a day for you each year that is ‘private’ like this.

Why Won't Lorelai Take Free Coffee?

In ‘We Got Us a Pippi Virgin‘, Luke tries to offer Lorelai free coffee at the diner, now that they are dating. Lorelai feels uncomfortable with that. Lorelai says, “Luke, this is your business. I’ve always paid, and I always should pay.” They settle on no tips, saying it would be “weird.” (I don’t usually tip for just coffee, do you? At least not every time!)

Do you think Lorelai should have accepted the free coffee? At least sometimes? I know I do! I have a cafe I visit regularly (I’m a coffee-aholic) and they often offer me a free coffee or sweet treat just to say thanks. I’m not above accepting it. ;)

Why Does Lorelai Want to Delay Luke's Divorce?

In ‘Afterboom‘, Luke and Lorelai run into each other at the Mailboxes, Etc. where Luke is getting ready to finalize his divorce with the notary on hand. Lorelai says it’s not a very dignified place to finalize a divorce and wants to make sure he’s not rushing into the decision.

gilmore-girls-3-season-08.jpg

So, why does Lorelai want to make sure Luke doesn’t rush into his divorce? Is it to make sure Luke is making the right decision? Does she believe Luke could be happy?
