Amy Sherman-Palladino, writer and creator for Gilmore Girls, is going to pilot for a new series for ABC Family, Bunheads.
Bunheads is about Michelle, a Las Vegas showgirl who “impulsively” marries a guy and moves to his hometown where she starts to teach at his mother’s dance school.
“I spent 20 years of my life with my hair in a bun. I was supposed to be a dancer,” Sherman-Palladino said. “My mother was a dancer. Her greatest heartbreak was when I got on ‘Roseanne’. So, while writing this will never equal playing ‘Rumpelteazer’ in a bus and truck tour of ‘Cats,’ it does let me to tip my hat to a really special time in my life.”
The series is set to be an hourlong drama.
Amy is also writing a pilot series for ABC in adaptation of The Nanny Diaries.
