Amy Sherman-Palladio “Bunheads” Pilot

Amy Sherman-Palladino, writer and creator for Gilmore Girls, is going to pilot for a new series for ABC Family, Bunheads.

Bunheads is about Michelle, a Las Vegas showgirl who “impulsively” marries a guy and moves to his hometown where she starts to teach at his mother’s dance school.

“I spent 20 years of my life with my hair in a bun. I was supposed to be a dancer,” Sherman-Palladino said. “My mother was a dancer. Her greatest heartbreak was when I got on ‘Roseanne’. So, while writing this will never equal playing ‘Rumpelteazer’ in a bus and truck tour of ‘Cats,’ it does let me to tip my hat to a really special time in my life.”

The series is set to be an hourlong drama.

Amy is also writing a pilot series for ABC in adaptation of The Nanny Diaries.

Amy Sherman-Palladino to Write “The Nanny Diaries” Series

Amy Sherman-Palladino, writer and creator for Gilmore Girls, may soon be adapting the 2002 book The Nanny Diaries into a TV series for ABC.

The Emma McLaughlin bestselling book series was first created into a movie in 2007 starring Scarlett Johansson, Laura Linney and Alicia Keyes. The series is about a set of nannies who work for upper class Manhattan parents.

Though the movie wasn’t a blockbuster success, ABC is hoping that the success of the book will translate it well into a tv series.

I hope it works out! After going to pilot for ABC, Amy Sherman-Palladino’s The Wyoming Project did not get picked up and her The Return of Jezebel James for FOX lasted less than one season.

Matt Czuchry Talks “Gilmore Girls” Movie

Matt Czuchry (Logan Huntzberger on Gilmore Girls) is my Gilmore Girls star of the day, apparently. We top of the fantastic news day with this gem – Matt talking about the possibility of a Gilmore Girls movie!

Matt has no news about any Gilmore Girls movie, though fans do ask him often about it. He did happen to see Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino on the street in New York recently, and though the topic did not come up, he ends with “fingers crossed, fingers crossed.”

And that’s what we shall do! Keep our fingers crossed, keep our eyes and ears open, and keep the spirit of Gilmore Girls alive!

“Wyoming Project” Dead

Sad news! Though Scott Patterson‘s (Luke Danes on Gilmore Girls) new pilot series for NBC, The Event, and Melissa McCarthy‘s (Sookie on Gilmore Girls) has new CBS comedy pilot, Mike and Molly, were both picked up for the Fall season, The Wyoming Project, the upcoming pilot from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino (creators of Gilmore Girls), has not!

The CW has not chosen to pick up the Palladino series. Instead, the network has chosen to pick up two other new shows for the Fall slate: Nikita and Hellcats.

Big pout. :(

The Wyoming Project, the upcoming pilot from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino (creators of Gilmore Girls), is starting to get some promotion. The CW has recently released a couple of images for the project, which is currently only called The Wyoming Project as a development title – it’s also sometimes known by The Damn Thorpes.

The new series focuses on a horse trainer who must take over his parents’ ranch after their death and raise his 3 sisters.

According to the CW, The Wyoming Project, the upcoming pilot from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino (creators of Gilmore Girls) has added some new cast members. In addition to the previous casting info about Sean Faris and Renee Smith, we now have info that 3 others have joined the pilot.

Ryan Hawley (not pictured) will play one of the younger brothers – an Ivy Leaguer who doesn’t want to return to his Midwest home. Scarlett Johnson will play a love interest for Sean Faris. Alan Ruck will play a pompous over-the-top cowboy who is Faris’ nemesis, out to swindle their ranch.

“The Wyoming Project” Sounds Bad?

Women in Television

Television Without Pity has named the upcoming pilot from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino (creators of Gilmore Girls), The Wyoming Project, as one of the 10 “Worst-Sounding New Pilots.”

The top 10 list includes:

  1. Wright vs Wrong
  2. Hawaii Five-O
  3. Shit My Dad Says
  4. Defenders
  5. The Wyoming Project
  6. The Little Piggy
  7. Cutthroat
  8. Who Gets the Parents?
  9. Body of Evidence
  10. Kindreds

Keep in mind, The Wyoming Project is just a working title. This list is based on the show concepts, not their titles. They list Amy & Dan’s project in here because “[though] we did watch every single episode of Gilmore (even when it got totally ridiculous), we should be optimistic, right? No. Because we also saw The Return of Jezebel James.

So, it’s a 50/50 shot here, right? I agree The Return of Jezebel James was quite horrible – though I blame it entirely on casting, not on writing. So let’s hope the casting can keep up with Amy & Dan on this new series, right??
