Keiko Agena’s Guest Appearance on “House”

As previously mentioned, Keiko Agena (Lane Kim on Gilmore Girls), guest starred tonight in an episode of House.

In the episode, “Unplanned Parenthood,” Taub takes a liking to Dr. Cheng, a doctor who helps the team on a case involving a mysteriously ill child. Put in charge of finding a new female doctor for the team, he thinks Dr. Cheng is perfect for them. However, he double guesses House’s liking of her and this leads to some issues.

Keiko was great in the part – a great doctor, very capable – and who knows, if not for Taub, maybe she could have been a regular!

The video for this episode will be available online next week. Sadly, no photos include Keiko!

New Gilmore Girls Trivia Revealed

In honor of Gilmore Girls’ 10 year anniversary, CNN’s Katie decided to dig up some Gilmore Girls trivia and interview some of those associated with the show.

Keiko Agena (Lane Kim on Gilmore Girls) talked about shooting the pilot and how she was “loving the script and just filled with hope that everybody would love it as much as we did.” Which we did, of course! Keiko also talks about shooting Transformers 3 and her puppet classes. Katie also interviewed Aaron Berman, who is soon releasing The Gilmore Girls Companion book, who supplied this great quote:

“In the end, Gilmore Girls remains beloved the world over today because it addresses the absurdities of life, and the imperfections in our relationships with one another, with humor and an understanding of what it is to be human.

There are stereotypes, certainly – Kirk’s cluelessness, Taylor’s scheming, Emily’s disapproving – but every character is also presented as decidedly human. As Lorelai observes of Kirk, ‘it’s all any of us wants – to find a nice person to hang out with ’til we drop dead. Not a lot to ask.”

gilmore-girls-season-3-21.jpgSome trivia revealed in the interviews:

  • The pilot episode was shot in Toronto, though the rest was shot in California
  • Lauren Graham was the last person cast in Gilmore Girls because she was contractually obligated to another show, which fell through
  • Actors spent between 14-21 hours on set each day
  • Crew members, who often worked longer, would sleep on set! Apparently Lorelai’s bed was a favorite snooze place!
  • Kirk was inspired by Amy Sherman-Palladino’s father, Don Sherman, who always played different characters on the show Gimme a Break
  • Emily Gilmore wore jewelry owned by Kelly Bishop because she’s allergic to costume jewelry. Her gold necklace (to the right) was purchased for the show and Kelly has only worn it twice, in plays, since Gilmore Girls ended.
  • Some of the fast-paced dialogue was created through editing by removing any pauses between line delivery
  • Gypsy was often covered in motor oil… which was actually steak sauce!

Keiko Agena to Guest on “House”

Keiko Agena (Lane Kim on Gilmore Girls), who recently spent a week filming a small role on Transformers 3, will be guest starring in an upcoming episode of House.

Keiko will be guest starring in the October 18 episode as Dr. Cheng. In the episode, House is given a directive to hire a new female doctor. There are many female doctors guest starring in this episode, I’m assuming that Keiko’s role will be as one of them. We know from earlier spoilers of the series that Amber Tamblyn is slated to become a new doctor in the series, so I’m sad to report that Keiko won’t be a regular doctor for the series!

This reminds me of when Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) guest starred on the series finale of ER.

Thanks Cath!

Keiko Agena Joins Puppet School

Keiko Agena (Lane Kim on Gilmore Girls) has begun classes at Puppet School and the school has put out a cute video of their first class:

I have no idea why Keiko is interested in puppet school – maybe she can tell us herself – Keiko??

Keiko Agena Writes “Take it Back”

Keiko Agena (Lane Kim on Gilmore Girls) collaborated with her husband, Shin Kawasaki, to write a song called “Take it Back.”

Shin is encouraging free downloads on the song – which is a much better version of the video above – in order to win a contest!

Keiko Agena Playing Drums

Keiko Agena (Lane Kim on Gilmore Girls) has been jamming as a part of the Boo Boo Kitty band on the bass for a couple of years now. When fellow Gilmore Girls fan Aaron was in LA, he went to the Tuesday Night Cafe to see Keiko perform… only then, she was playing the drums for Supper Club!!

Check out this video of Keiko performing a la Lane Kim:

On the guitar that night was Keiko’s husband, Shin Kawasaki.
