In the finale of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Rory drops that she’s pregnant, bringing the series full-circle, in many people’s minds. Some actors have commented that they know who the father of Rory’s baby is, while others have been kept in the dark. Liza Weil (Paris Gellar) chimed in on the discussion, saying that she does not know who the father is either.
It’s unclear if we’re ever be officially told or if perhaps Amy Sherman-Palladino wants us to keep wondering perpetually… or hold it back for another revival? Hey, we can hope, right?
As for Paris, her character was a highlight of the revival for many. Some characters, such as Paris, went on a major journey during the revival, bringing us not only a deeper understanding of their character, but powerful acting chops to back it up. The scene where Paris kicks the door remains one of the highlights of the revival, for me. However, Paris’ journey was not entirely a happy one. While successful in her career, there was no happy ending for Paris and Doyle.
Liza Weil shares her own thoughts on Paris’ journey:
“I was very happy, yeah, I mean it was such a treat for me just to have Amy [Sherman-Palladino] and Dan [Palladino’]s writing presented to me again,” she confessed. “That language is so specific, and I miss saying those words so much — but, in terms of story I was very surprised.”
“I didn’t really see any of that stuff coming, but I thought that it was all handled very, very well,” she said. “You know, it made me a little sad that Paris and Doyle are having some times, but I think that that tracks.”
And would Liza return to Paris again if given the chance?
“I think if Amy and Dan had more stories to tell I would certainly want to be a part of that very much.”
