Lauren Graham’s new book, Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between, has been holding steady on the New York Times Best Sellers list, starting out at #3 in Hardcover Nonfiction, which is a pretty big deal. Since its debut on the list 5 weeks ago, the book continues to remain in the top 10.
In an interview with the Leonard Lopate Show, Lauren reflects on writing the book, sharing some insights into behind-the-scenes moments on Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life as well.
A LA Times piece also recently interviewed Lauren about writing her book, which she wrote every spare moment on the set of Gilmore Girls: a Year in the Life. While I’m sure that helped breathe life into the book, it must have been a lot to juggle! In addition to talking about her books, Lauren talks about her shift into writing, which has seen her developing pilots and working on a movie adaptation The Royal We with Mae Whitman.
“I like making something of my own,” Graham says. “It’s much harder than being an actor, but I think it feels like a way to grow creatively. It wasn’t a calculated career move to start writing. I woke up with some ideas in my head and I put them down. I’m certainly not perfect, but I’ve learned enough to know these things are not going to create themselves without some discipline, so I kind of just went down that road and here we are.”
Random House Audio has also released three excerpts from Talking As Fast As I Can, to give you a feel for the book (as read by Lauren herself!). Nobody can deliver on this book as well as she can!
