Jess Still Has Feelings for Rory, Says Milo Ventimiglia

Share

This moment. This moment right here. This is where everything changed.

Going into the revival, I was sure that Rory would choose Logan. This is not to say that I was Team Logan, I just believed that was the story that Amy wanted to tell. I felt like Jess was her ‘bad boy’ and that though he grew up and became responsible, yet still opinionated and edgy, it was a growth that failed to mirror the path that Rory was on. Their paths diverged. They were never in sync. I saw her aiming for a ‘Logan.’ Rory, of all the Gilmore girls, wanted that life. The life of success and ease and excitement. Logan brought that.

But all has changed for Rory. She likely blew through her trust fund pursuing her career (a topic I’ll discuss in another post). She had some success, but not enough to justify her lifestyle of a jet-setting journalist chasing down stories and having exciting adventures with Logan. The whole thing wasn’t working for her. I saw her Life & Death Brigade experience as being a ‘last hurrah’ for Rory, one which showed her where she didn’t belong any longer.

Pushed back into Stars Hollow, Rory was forced to re-evaluate her life. I don’t think she liked who she was. I didn’t like who she was. But I saw the potential there. The spark of the old Rory. And I think this moment? I think Jess saw it too.

Yes, Jess was there to push things forward. For Luke, for Rory. But as Jess walked out of Lorelai’s house, closing the door behind him, what I didn’t feel was Jess stepping out of Rory’s life. What I saw was Jess looking back into Rory’s life. Opening that door, just a little bit. Considering if it could be what Rory wants. What he wants. Just maybe their paths were lining up again.

Some people have said that Jess was like Rory’s Christopher. Her bad boy. Others have said Logan was her Christopher. I think we should stop drawing these comparisons. They are not the same people. Rory’s story may have come full circle in the Final Four Words, but that does not mean that doors are closed for either Logan or for Jess. There are things left to be explored.

Milo Ventimiglia was just interviewed by ET, saying:

“I think there were still a lot of questions up in the air with Jess. It looks like there are still some feelings he is feeling for Rory,” he confessed, adding that he would “be happy” to film more episodes of the Netflix reboot. “It’s funny, I never really thought too much about what was happening beyond when I left the show, so for Jess to be still wondering, [it is] fascinating.”

As for the big plot twist with the Final Four Words, here’s what Milo has to say to EW (thanks for the tip, JP)

“Let’s think of it in terms of who is Amy going to set up to fight for Rory’s affection,” he said. “Will it be she’s carrying Logan’s child and Jess is going to fight for her because Logan’s going to be schmucky, or is Logan, the rich guy, going to fight for her and Jess is going to be schmucky? I don’t know. I’m thinking it’s Logan’s kid and Jess is going to fight for her.”

So, go ahead Team Jess, get excited. I think this moment says it all.

I thought she would choose Logan too but wanted her with Jess so I was happy with the last scene of Jess looking back at her. (Although why he wasn’t in the next scene the wedding scene is beyond). In my head she’s with Jess, not pregnant.

That moment… I ran upstairs screaming “Its going to be Jess! It HAS to be Jess!” I was so sure the show would end with them together after everything with Logan. I wish it had a more concrete ending but I agree that that is where it was (IS, fingers crossed) going.

I was always TeamJess but now after the revival I think Jess deserves better…Jess deserves more than spoiled Rory and her kid of an unknown father.. I´m changing my mind to TeamBetterGirl for Jess :)

I thought it was going to Logan. But he is weak, he can’t control his father and the so call bloodline responsibility. I believe that Jesse it’s better for Rori. She needs someone that has stronger personality.

Ugh I’m so over the Jess bs. They had one scene together. He is such a non factor. That weird moment with Luke and the stare was clearly ASP just giving Jess fans something. It’s been 10 years! If she wanted them to be together they would have been together. The kid could have been Jess’s. Also, why would Jess want to get involved in the mess that is Rory and Logan? And now with a baby involved? Jess would always be second best to Logan and that’s really not fair to him. If Rory wanted to be with him she’s had 10 years to pick up a phone and try to reconnect with him. Instead she is picking Logan again! She’s literally flying across an oven to be with him. And I mean the beautifully bitter sweet goodbye between Logan and her and then Amy drops the baby bomb that is clearly going to force them to try and work their shit out and grow up. That was incredibly clever and devilish on Amy’s part. Life doesn’t always go how you planned and fate just felt them a heavy card. They thought they had said goodbye for good but things just don’t always go the way you think they will. To say the least Jess was a non-factor. He so deep in the friend zone Tom Brady couldn’t get him out of there.
    End rant.

Bitter Team Logan. Unfortunately Logan is a married man now. If you paid attention you would realize Rory’s conversation with Christopher proved she going to raise the baby WITHOUT Logan. Sorry to crush your dreams but your ignoring facts. Also Rory flew across an ocean NOT an oven.

Bitter girl who hates guys like Logan. Logan isn’t married yet. All Rory has to do is go to him. The conversation with Christopher was simply gauging his feelings on the matter. It wasn’t indicative of what Rory will do.

Wasn’t that in the Spring? She would have been very pregnant by Fall. Definitely showing.

This did not feel like a gilmore girls revival. I felt like rory lost interest in g g , not thinking about revival. You Had bunheaD people, YOU Had parenthood, I Think gilmore girls just didn’t have a chance. Seems like luke was about the only one really wanting to revive the show.

That “Jess is going to fight for Rory” quote is not Milo, It’s Scott Patterson’s.

I was really surprised when Rory didn’t end up with Logan (happily surprise, might I add).
I feel like she closed her Logan chapter with the final LDB scene and, even if he is the father, it doesn’t mean something is gonna happen between them again. For me, Jess was always Luke and Logan was always Chris and although Matt didn’t play it like that, that’s how Amy intended to be. However, that doesn’t mean much because Rory and Lorelai are different. Lorelai chose Luke, but it doesn’t mean Rory will do the same.

I am team Logan forever. The scene where Jess is staring in the window at Rory, didn’t mean anything, if at all it wasn’t nessascary. If Jess has feelings for Rory, he would’ve done something about it in 10 years, and he didn’t. Logan, however, did find Rory, despite his being engaged. They are still somehow involved with each-other after 10 years. If that doesn’t show they are meant to be, I don’t know what does. And with Rory’s pregnancy, Logan is the most likely father and in my opinion the best. I think he would be a great father and definatley willing to drop his engagement and finally be with Rory. The ending scene was crazy for me, I haven’t stopped thinking about it. I really hope that there will be more episodes, and we will get actual closure.

Personally, I always thought that Logan was supposed to be modeled after the Christopher character and Jess obviously more like Luke. I think Amy Palladino intended for Rory to get pregnant with Logan’s child, hence recreating the same cycle of being estranged from her baby’s father– who also comes from a family of wealth, privilege & high expectations. Logan being married to someone else & loving in London also recreates the whole estranged father (like Christopher) being distant from a pregnant Rory as she raises their child alone…..
