Alexis Bledel Knew the Final Four Words Before Lauren Graham

According to a new interview with Metro, it was revealed that Alexis Bledel was told what the final four words would be before Lauren knew them, but it was more of a “miss” that they just never clued Lauren in!

Amy Sherman-Palladino never put the final four words down on paper, even during the final filming, so the words could never be spoiled. Lauren Graham shared that she was surprised at what the four words were, as was Alexis:

“I was surprised as well, a bit taken aback really, and then I thought, “of course Amy would do that!”’

Lauren Graham says she was told the final four words halfway through filming Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. As to the fan obsession with the final four words? Lauren offers this advice:

“They are only four words guys, we can only do so much!”

Do you think we obsess over these final four words too much? Will it be a disappointment?

And as to whether or not these final four words are an ‘ending’? The girls had this to say:

‘To me the conclusion was definitely a surprise,’ said Alexis. ‘But it’s the sort of conclusion only Amy could design so hopefully fans will love it because it will be authentic.’

I don’t know, I kind of like the joke that it should continue forever and become “Grandma Girls,” as Lauren & Alexis quipped.

please don’t say that the final four words are going to be something along the lines of “maybe in another life” or “we never quite worked” or “we could have been great” (oops, 5 words)

The final 4 words are split between Lauren and Alexis so I doubt it. It will be one completing the others sentence or a short back and forth

Maybe the last four words will be just simply “I love you mom”. Because the show is about mother daughter relationship. So it makes sense that they will say it to each other. It will sum up the show. Maybe the show will end with both of them alone but together they will have each other. And with a strong feminist movement now it is quite possible that that’s the way ASP will choose to finish it.
