Gilmore Girls Photos Released to Full Media

Share

Netflix has released the 4 new production stills to the remainder of the media, after their early release to EW, revealing a stunning look at four new scenes in Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The first photo clearly has the greatest impact, and I’m not alone in thinking most of us will be in tears for this scene. Lauren once noted,

“There’s a line [in the script] about how time has passed and how that feels… and hanging over all of it is the absence of Ed [Herrmann, who played Gilmore patriarch Richard], which, obviously the [revival] addresses. But that’s where we’re all starting from, and it feels so real. It’s hard to be here without him.”

For all of us, I think I can say that we dread this scene and what Gilmore Girls will be like without Edward Herrmann, who was always one of the greatest supporters and lovers of Gilmore Girls, and Richard, who was the backbone of the family and one of my favourite characters.

Although it has been assumed up until this point that the first image would be a part of the Winter episode, which is said to address Richard’s death, the clothes being worn by the girls and now the Netflix release of the image (which labels it for Summer), seems to contradict when the scene takes place. We can only wait and see!

@Judy, April is listed in the cast list and I heard her interviewed on a red carpet or something and she mentioned having her life discussed at a dinner table with the Gilmores. Sounds promising for Luke and Lorelai fans. :)

I read somewhere else that they are still together (ish) and still engaged. Not sure how they are going to explain that, however, I also saw a photo of a prop marked “wedding.” I’m hoping their current status is because ASP and Co. wanted the fans to see their wedding, but I still they are going to have to come up with a plausible reason why it hasn’t happened in the past 8 yrs.

I think the picture of Emily, Lorelai, and Rory in the graveyard could be them visiting Richard’s grave on the 1yr anniversary of his death. As has been said, when the show starts with the “Winter” episode, Richard will have already passed away a few months before that, which could very well place his death toward the end of the summer months (Summer technically doesn’t end until September 22nd on the Autumnal Equinox). It would make sense for them to return to the cemetery on the 1yr anniversary, since ASP has said that the plotlines of the new episodes are based around the 3 women going through/coping/dealing with the 1st year of Richard’s death and how his loss has effected them and moving forward with their lives. Just a theory that has been stuck in my brain since this photo first came out, thought I’d share it! So looking forward to November 25th!

Laura I had the same thoughts about that photo of the girls at the cemetery when I first saw it. It would make sense it was a year later and they return to visit Richard. November 25 just can’t come soon enough.

I agree that this could be an anniversary trip to Richard’s grave side. If the death was so recebt, they wouldn’t be dressed so colorfully.

Gilmore Girls was just such a nice show. It gave you a good feeling.
I recently watched the whole series again on Netflix to catch up on anything I may have missed or do not remember.
