Melissa McCarthy recently opened up about reprising her role as Sookie for the Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. In her interview with E News, Melissa shared that
“I think it’s a great idea that they’ve gone back and Amy Sherman-Palladino gets to finish it the way she saw it in her head. When else do you get to do that?! The odds are so ridiculous. You don’t get to redo your ending like that. I think it’s a great idea. It’s the right time to do it. I think people are going to be really happy with it.”
Let’s hope so, Melissa! In another funny segment with E!, Melissa brings on her wit to suggest that the 4 revival episodes be expanded to 700 instalments instead!
“Seven hundred,” she told E! News’ Will Marfuggi when asked about how many episodes are involved. “There’s only four movies, but I have written an additional 696 episodes. It’s just kind of me and a voiceover…”
Perhaps we can settle for 4 every year or two instead? Melissa continues that being back with everyone in Stars Hollow was “dreamy” and “like we hadn’t been gone that long at all. It was really nice.”
Melissa was recently honored at GildaFest, being presented with The Gilda Radner Award for Innovation in Comedy
