Lauren Graham had the opportunity to field some questions today about the upcoming release of Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life while preparing to announce the Emmy nominations. Lauren Graham gushes that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the life will be even BETTER than the original and that her return was so gratifying, it’s tempting to retire on the high! Continue for full interview snippets.

In an interview with E!, Lauren noted how amazing it was to be back for more Gilmore Girls:

“It was my most favorite thing I’ve ever done. I was very thankful every day and really could kind of connect to, ‘I’m so lucky. Wow, what an experience to get to do this again,’ in the way that we don’t often get those chances in life. It’s not even a do-over, it’s just to go back with an understanding of how rare it all was and is. Plus, I just love that material. I love it. I never get tired of it.”

In an interview with Yahoo!, Lauren jokes about retiring on a high point in her career:

“If I could retire, I would just leave it here. It was so gratifying and so fun… all those dynamics are the same, but even better.”

Lauren continues that Gilmore Girls has matured, and that’s made it super satisfying. So satisfying, she’s calling it her favourite work to date:

“It’s grown up a little bit, so to me, it’s my favorite thing I’ve ever done. And it will be satisfying to fans.”

Not only have years passed for the characters on the show, but also for the actors. Many of the actors are returning as seasoned stars now, bringing a whole new dynamic that Lauren appreciates. In reference to Melissa McCarthy, Lauren shares it was “gratifying to see how it has translated,” in terms of her talent, and that having Melissa back on set was “beautiful.”

Lauren shares that she returned to set “thankful every day.”
