Melissa McCarthy appeared on Ellen today to promote her new movie, The Boss, but also to share the good news about her return to Gilmore Girls for the Gilmore Girls: Seasons revival on Netflix, which was announced the same day.
Here is the transcript of Melissa’s announcement:
“It is really exciting. There has been something that I have been asked about so so many times and it hasn’t worked out. They are making 4 new movies of the Gilmore Girls, a show which was near and dear to my hear for years, and we could not get those schedules to work. And there was a whole “thing.” And I was going to be out of the country, and blah blah blah.
Literally, about an hour and a half ago,” Melissa notes with a huge grin, “I am going to go back and DO IT. And I am SO excited. Right?! They’re gonna be amazing.
Amy Sherman-Palladino’s going to squeeze me in to do it. I’m very happy to go back to Stars Hollow. I’m just really excited about that.”
Lauren Graham responded to the good news on Twitter, saying:
“Yay, Sookie! This makes me so happy. Let’s all go see @TheBossFilm this weekend to celebrate.”
And celebrate we should! As Yanic Truesdale (Michel) recently shared in an interview, not having Melissa McCarthy on Gilmore Girls is like missing a piece of the family:
“There’s a member of the family missing. She’s very much loved and adored, by the fans, the co-stars and by me.”
Well, that family member is BACK. She may only be there for a visit, but we can all rejoice for that!
