Sutton Foster’s Gilmore Girls Role Expanded

It was recently announced that Sutton Foster would be making a guest appearance on the Gilmore Girls revival, Gilmore Girls: Seasons. Sutton was on set earlier this month filming her scenes, sharing at the time that she would have a “smaller part” featured in only “one” of the episodes, but now it looks like her character has expanded. As often happens when chemistry is right, the writers expand to add more content. It’s a fluid script.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sutton explains how great it was for her, a self-confessed fan of the series, to work on the show, and that her role now fills two episodes of Gilmore Girls, Spring and Fall (episode 2 and 4).

“The first time I walked on to the Gilmore Girls set – walked into Stars Hollow – was *crazy*. I was walking by and being like ‘There’s Lorelai’s house! There’s the Jeep! Oh my gosh, there’s Kim’s Antiques! Oh my gosh, there’s Luke’s Diner!’ You know, I’m a big super nerd. It’s really cool walking through.

“The first time I was there, it was decorated for Springtime and the second time I was there it was decorated for Fall, so all the pumpkins were out and all the Autumn leaves and it’s just a magical little place.”

Sutton shares that her character worked alongside Sally Struthers, Miss Patty, and Sophie (Carole King), and Taylor (Michael Winters) and some things she’s not allowed to talk about (“surprises” she calls them). Sutton also filmed a scene alongside Lauren Graham, which was emotional for her, from all the anticipation, fandom and admiration:

“Lauren Graham is awesome. She’s one of my favourite actresses… We got to film a scene together on the show. It was just surreal, I was really nervous. When it was over, when we got it, I just burst into tears.”

Sutton notes that Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino wrote a “very special part” for her and she walked away not wanting to change a thing. As a die-hard fan like us, that speaks volumes to the quality of the revival. We can’t wait!

So that means Matt is probably in at least 3 episodes. Spring was probably the script Milo had posted a pic of since it had Sutton Foster’s name on it and Matt’s name was listed also. And we know from the LDB that they’re in at least 2 episodes, definitely Fall and most likely Summer from prop rumors, which would imply Logan being in those episodes also.
    Yay!

rogan4ever, I think you might be onto something. We know that the script Milo posted wasn’t “Fall” since that script was written by Dan and thanks to the Tanc we know “Fall” was written by Amy. Sutton has confirmed that she’s in “Spring” which we assume is written by Dan. Amy has written every season premiere, so it’s a strong bet that she wrote “Winter.” So, if Amy wrote “Winter” and “Fall” and Dan wrote “Spring” and “Summer”. The script photo Milo posted has to be “Spring” since Sutton is in that episode and so is Matt! I think Matt will be in 3 if not all 4 of the episodes.. :)

Just realized I pretty much said the same thing you did but in a much longer-winded way, sorry! LOL.

    #teamlogan, assemble!

Milo’s script was Summer. In his script, along with Sutton’s name, there’s also a guy named Sam Pancake who, according to IMDB, only appears in Summer.

Did you guys even watch the Sutton clip? She didn’t say she’s in Spring and Fall, just that the town was dressed like that, but we don’t know if she fimed her scenes outdoors. And she previously stated she’s in ONE episode. So yeah, pretty sure she’s in Summer. Not saying they could’ve expanded her part, though.

The article above is saying that they did, indeed, expand her part.

no, EW just assumed it. but she didn’t say so in the clip. she just said the town was decorated like springtime/fall, but thanks to Michael Winters we know they’re filming multiple episodes at once. she’s definitely in Summer, that I’m sure.

With all of the “Other” familial crossovers, can the quartet from Bunheads be far behind??

That Sutton Foster is a real likeable person, so natural. When I started watching Bunheads I didn’t like her, but came to adore her at the end. She is very quirky and knows slapstick.
