Will Logan Return for the ‘Right’ Episodes of Gilmore Girls?

Share

With confirmation that Jared Padalecki would be returning to Gilmore Girls as Dean Forrester for the revival on Netflix, tentatively called Gilmore Girls: Seasons, but *only* for the first episode and news that Milo Ventimiglia would be returning to Gilmore Girls for 3 episodes as Jess Mariano, that leaves the question: what about Logan? Matt Czuchry is set to reprise his role as Logan Huntzberger, but as yet we don’t have official confirmation on how many episodes he will appear in.

We may not know details officially, BUT we can make some guesses. Follow my logic and a few *spoilers* I’ve seen floating around:

  • Jared Padalecki will return as Dean for 1 episode, the first episode: Winter
  • Milo Ventimiglia will return for 3 episodes, starting with Winter, but we don’t know if he will be in the last episode (skipping a middle one) or only the first 3 episodes
  • There are rumours that the Life & Death Brigade are returning for 2 episodes, the last two. This comes from an unverified source in the props department, who has tagged props for the last two episodes: Summer and Fall
  • As a member of the Life & Death Brigade, Logan could be assumed to be in at least those 2 episodes with his other Life & Death Brigade members.
  • We know from Milo’s photo of the script that Logan also appears in the first episode, so it looks like we have 3/4 episodes confirmed for Matt with a gap in the middle. This could mean, possibly, he’s in all 4 episodes?
If that logic holds true, we have Logan appearing in the very last episode… but only maybe Jess. Still, there’s enough maybe left for a true #TeamJess vs #TeamLogan argument! And of course, we could still end up with Rory being single OR dating someone else, though that would be far less satisfying for us fans!

If you want to show your TEAM pride, I put together some fun shirts and hats with each Team! Wear your vote: Team Jess, Team Logan or Team Dean!

Oh, Team Jess all the way. Logan would just grow up to be like Mitchum, whereas Jess is probably a fairly well-published author by this point.

Team Jess all the way! Logan had his chance. Actually, I wouldn’t be to sure that the script Milo was reading was for the first episode. If you look again, Jared is not listed on the script pic that Milo tweeted, so there is no guarentee that either Milo or Matt appear in the first episode. Scott Patterson said that he he read all 4 scripts before filming started. Also, it might just be me but I think that ASP would have wanted to write the first episode. DP wrote the script Milo’s reading.

As far as Logan’s dumb college stunt club goes, why would that be in 2 episodes? The episodes are not just set in a day, they represent seasons. If Logan hasn’t outgrown that cr*p after eight years, I’m not sure that bodes well for him. Even if its a reunion, would you have one in the Summer and then the Fall?

On the IMDb page for the revival, Milo is slated to appear in the first three. No Fall for him. The fact Finn is going to appear in the last two episodes gives me hope. Why on earth would Finn be in them if Logan wasn’t going to be? They’re being very hush hush about Matt’s involvement, despite the news dropping first that he would return. *Fingers crossed!*

IMDb is *not* a source. People simply add info there that is found, and since to add 3 episodes you had to choose episodes, the person (not someone from the show) just chose at random.

Team JESS! Everyday! To clarify, the episodes listed for Milo’s return are not correct. It has been stated by the person in the message boards that in order to list him as being in 3 episodes he had to name them so he chose at random. If the rest were correct, the vast majority of the cast would only be in the first episode.

in other words its not been confirmed that the Life and Death brigade are in 2 episodes. I would be surprised if they are in more than one. I just can’t see how it would work.

The props department noted the Life & Death Brigade props were needed for the last 2 episodes, but that’s as far as “confirmation” goes, yes

TEAM LOGAN! I wish they end up together though my logic tells me ASP would not make that happen nor will Netflix considering how many people are rooting for Jess, though I never really liked him.

My mistake…I didn’t realize IMDb was like Wikipedia. It did make me feel better about the fact Matt is only logged on for 1 episode, though, since no official announcement has been made. If it’s not a new guy/no guy situation, a Jess/Logan showdown makes the most sense. Again, apologies. Up until research last night, I thought IMDb was updated by agents and the like. Embarrassment.

Arieanna: When/how/who confirmed that Milo’s picture of the script was for “Winter” and isn’t his pen there to cover up the title of the script intentionally? Don’t you think he’d want to cover up the name of the script for a reason (perhaps because it’s not for “Winter”?

I may be off base here, but I think there may be a twist on why Finn and Logan are coming back. What if Rory runs into Finn, who is now a responsible professional adult. They hook up and get married, and as a good friend of Finn’s, Logan is invited to the wedding

Jess was a jerk to everyone including Rory and turned her into one of those girls who waits by the phone and doesn’t stand up for herself. I’m Team Logan all the way, he had his faults but he brought Rory out of her shell and introduced her to new things and challenged her in a good way.

@Rosemary Knight – This is a favorite theory of my husband’s, also. Finn WAS rather entranced with Lorelai, and you know, if you want to know what a woman will look like in 20 years, look at her mother. :)

Also, thanks for the kind reply, arieanna. I did often wonder about omissions & uncredited roles on IMDb. Not being “in the biz” (or writing for it, ha,) I thought the agents or whoever was in charge of keeping their client’s stuff updated. Thanks for keeping us updated on all things Gilmore. :)

Why in the world would anyone be team Jess? He was mean, abusive, angry, pouty, unappreciative…..the list goes on. Never once in their relationship was Rory happy. It was always drama with him screwing with her head. What is the Jess appeal exactly? Because he liked books???

I am personally not #team anyone. Did you get to watch every single season 7 of them not miss one episode it? I have watched every season every episode more than 3 times!!, I know it’s a show not life But Alexis aka Rory put her heart in every part she played with Dean, Jess and Logan Each of them had a different connection with her…. I will not sit behind a screen and bash someone rather an actor a person of human being. But I will tell you what I got from watching When Rory got with #Logan She Partied hung out at bars which was way out of character but an experience young adults go through. She stole a boat with Logan went to Jail moved into her grandparents home done community service, And dropped out of Yale.. What and experience my heart was breaking to see Lorelai,Luke and once grandparents realize they had made terrible mistake letting her move there instead of helping the problem.. 😔 GUESS Who helped Rory figure out she wasn’t being herself she just wasn’t doing what her plans were all her life the plans she had so many times she had shared with them….. NONE OTHER THAN THE GUY YOU JUST CANT THINK ANYONE LIKES….😮😮. WOAH JESS. AHHHH WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.

Team Logan always! Jess tried to shatter Rory’s future by asking her to elope with him to NYC when ROry was in Yale. Logan did factor in Rory while he decided to take up the San FRan job offer. Logan did all the research of Rory working for the San fransisco chronicle and what kind of house they would rent. Rory tarnished Logan’s heart by denying his proposal. Logan and Rory should get back together any day as Logan was quite sensitive about Luke and lorelai’s relation and he invited them to Martha vineyards. Logan was more than supportive when Richard was in the hospital. These incident’s prove Logan’s emotional attachment to Rory and her family/friends.Logan also carries the chivalry of seeking permission from Lorelai to marry Rory and proving that he is capable of financially taking care of Rory as he proved himself in the San fran job interview.

And Dean cannot be anywhere close to Rory for obvious reasons. His marriage with Lindsay was called off only because Lindsay found Rory’s letter. Dean did not initiate the divorce. Logan and Rory made for each other forever.

I’m team Logan. I understand why the show finished with Rory rejecting Logan’s proposal. But he really developed on the show as a character. He started as a spoiled arrogant rich kid who wasn’t a boyfriend material, to later deciding to be in a relationship. After Rory’s and Logan’s first break up, he tried everything to win her back, even went to Lorelei for help. Logan wasn’t very responsible with his Life and Death brigade, so his father sent him away to London which forced him to grow up. And we can see how much he changed. He took his job and responsibilitis seriously. He surprised Rory as much as he could with the visits and tried to be romantic. He gave her a rocket as a symbol of a true love. When Rory’s grandfather had a heart attack, Logan flew in immediately to support Rory and her family. And he said that “she doesn’t have to thank him because there is no other place he’d rather be than with her at this moment”. After Logan’s business failed, he did react childish by going to Vegas and not facing the responsibility and not showing up at work. But he did admit his mistakes later in an episode. He realized what he wanted and that he had to take control of his life, so he quits his dad’s business and decides to go on his own. That was one of the biggest developments of his character. A lot of people keep saying that he is a spoiled rich kid who has everything handed to him, so he is a jerk. That all of his gestures are just annoying and a show off. But he did change and a lot of things he did for Rory, he did it out of love for her. I believe he sincerely loved her and respected her. And yes, in real life people rarely change that much, but I think in the show that what the writers were trying to show us. That people grow up, develop and change. Some changes are small but some might be big. In the episode “Hay Bale Maze” Logan was shown as an independent adult, who realized his mistakes, who took responsibilities seriously, who wanted to work hard, but wanted to do what he wants and not what his father tells him, even if it means not having financial support of his family. When Rory and Logan had conversation about their future plans and jobs, he told her that she should do whatever she wants and not factor him in, because they will figure it out. Then there was a camera shot of Rory and Logan going through the hay maze and they stopped infront of two separate paths going in the opposite directions. We see how they stood at these paths for a moment and then Logan took Rory’s hand and they walked together in the same direction. Which I believe was a symbol of them going in the same direction together in their future life. In the next episode we learn that Logan got a job in CA and he was ready to propose but before that he asked Lorelei’s permission to do it. What surprised me, is how writers ended the show with Logan giving Rory ultimatum about either getting married or ending their relationship. Which I think was very unlike him at this moment since we just saw all the changes in him. But who knows. I feel that maybe Rory didn’t want to get married at the time because she was too young and she had many interesting adventures in front of her which makes sense. But now that she is all grown up, she might be ready to take the next step. And maybe Logan will mature even more. So I hope that Rory and Logan will reunite as a couple on the revival.

Here is what I would like to see….
Lindsay turned up pregnant and a humble and genuinely sorry Dean asks her for a second chance, and she forgave him (he was completely over Rory at that point,) and dedicated his life to making it up to Lindsay and being an awesome, devoted, and faithful husband from that point on. They are now incredibly happy with like 6 kids. Dean is a licensed contractor. (There have been many relationships where stuff like this has happened. ) Rory realizes how incredibly loyal Dean would have been forever, had she stayed with him……

I think that I could be okay with either Logan or Jess, but here’s my personal view….
Logan got married to another woman, who was very similar to Rory, and He is responsible, successful, (albeit has to attend regular AA meetings because of alcoholism), and he has his second child on the way. Rory doesn’t regret her decision to reject him, because she thinks his wife is a better fit. She is less ambitious, so she is ok trading asking after him, but she sees what could have been and it makes her sad…..
Jess: I married a Jess, a bad boy who grew up and reformed and he’s an awesome man, husband, and father today, so I want to see that for him. I think that Jess is single because he has always known it was Rory and he’s been working on becoming the kind of man that is worthy of her. He is successful enough (like Luke), but not rich. He DID get his GED. Rory and him finally get together (but now he’s respectful, decent, and less moody). He treats people better in general, and and Rory realizes that he was always meant to be but they had to get their timing right (like Luke and Lorelai) and they had to grow up. They get married.

Luke and Lorelai better be married, albeit probably t going through a rough patch, maybe with a kid.
