Earlier this week, Vanessa Marano, who played April Nardini on Gilmore Girls, tweeted an article from Bustle that was pro-April returning to Gilmore Girls. She wasn’t always the most popular character, but it looks like she was giving us a hint! Variety revealed tonight that Vanessa Marano will indeed be returning for the Netflix revival, tentatively titled Gilmore Girls: Seasons.
Whether you love her or hate her, it only seems fitting that she be a part of the series (in my opinion). We are hopeful that Luke Danes has grown as a person, and with that you would expect him to have a big place in his life for his daughter, April. Vanessa has previously been quoted as saying she, too, disliked April!
“That poor, poor 12-year-old fictional character was hated, which I get,” Marano, who now stars on ABC Family’s Switched at Birth, tells E! News. “I kind of hated April Nardini, too, as a fan of the show. She broke up Luke and Lorelai!”
Despite all the ill will towards April, Marano admits she’s hoping she’ll get the chance to return to Stars Hollow, though. “I have no information on it right now,” she says. “I really hope they’re bringing my character back because I’m such a fan of the Gilmore Girls that…I just want to be able to nerd out more.”
Vanessa has been starring in the ABC Family series Switched at Birth since 2011.
Welcome back Vanessa!
