“Gilmore Girls: Seasons” is All About Change & Rory’s Love Life Spoiler

In a beautiful twopart interview, writer and director Amy Sherman-Palladino shares how the Gilmore Girls revival, now called Gilmore Girls: Seasons, came to be and what we can expect. This interview contains *SPOILERS*.

Starting off during Winter, we will see a season of Change. Amy explains:

“The pilot started where all three women were at a change in their lives. And it felt like, well that’s where we need to start [the revival]. It’s later in their lives and we’re meeting up with them and finding out what they’ve been doing but, more than that, that all three of their lives are going to change.”

For Emily, that is because Richard is gone. This does, of course, impact all three Gilmore girls, giving them questions about where they are in life, where they are going and what they’re doing. About not taking people you love for granted.

Of course, moving forward, Amy and Dan had to face *Season 7*, the one season they didn’t write and which left many of us life-long fans quite let down. In fact, for many years they didn’t even want to watch that season, to see how it was taken:

“We had to sort of catch up on Season 7. We did a lot through asking our friends who are obsessive Gilmore fans and have watched every moment to talk us through what happened. And I’ve seen bits and pieces. But the main thing was: We weren’t going to take something and do it even though Season 7 negated it. That wasn’t going to happen. I wasn’t going to say to the fans who stayed through Season 7, “Hey, you all wasted your f—ing time for a whole season. So, ignore all that!” We had to pick them up where they left off. Luckily, the elements that we really wanted to play were not taken or destroyed by whatever they did in Season 7.”

Then we come to the SPOILERS, talking about Rory and her love life. Even though filming begins TODAY, not all the cast negotiations are done, which is perhaps why we don’t have certain cast members that could give us clues as to the outcome of Rory and her love life. Amy notes, “Our plan is to get as many of the lovely men back as possible,” within budget constraints which may affect one of the men. All three main love interests – Milo Ventimiglia, Jared Padalecki and Matt Czuchry – have been successful in their careers, so I’m curious to see which one was the budget constraint!

So, Rory will be SINGLE and dating. That’s what we know so far!
