Gilmore Girls Revival Comes to Netflix – NEW Gilmore Girls!

Share

We’ve dreamed of it. We’ve asked (ok, begged) for it. And now it’s happening! It’s not a Gilmore Girls movie, or a Gilmore Girls one-off reunion episode, it’s better! TV Line reports that Netflix has closed a deal with Warner Bros. for a limited-series revival of Gilmore Girls (let’s just call it Gilmore Girls Season 8), penned by original series creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino.

Gilmore girls cast

Gilmore Girls is coming back!! And it’s coming back in the episodic-witty-amazing way we all love!

Negotiations with the cast are underway, but it appears major players such as Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson are all expected back. Lauren “can’t confirm it,” but that’s enough of a yes, isn’t it? Really, I can’t think of a reason anyone would say no to working with this amazing cast, and amazing writing team, to close up the series. After all, look at the amazing turnout for the ATX Festival reunion!

There have been rumours for years about the potential for a Gilmore Girls Reunion of some sort, and it always seemed like there was a hold-up. Most recently, Amy Sherman-Palladino noted that if a reunion happened it would have to be “right,” and we’e hopeful this is the case here. The cast all want to come back, we’ve known that for a while, and I think their support (for each other and from fans) at the ATX Festival reinforced what an amazing community YOU all are. It’s my opinion that we were just waiting on Warner Bros. to agree to move forward with a reunion of some sort, as the ones holding the rights to the series.

Gilmore girls reunion

What made this happen? What made it possible? I think it is all of YOU. The fans. The fans who watched the series from the start never stopped loving it. We watch again and again. And with each new set of reruns, on each new network and finally on Netflix, the fan base has just kept on growing. It never went away. And now, we’re seeing enough of a fan base for Netflix to knock on some doors and see some opportunity.

It’s BACK!! Gilmore Girls is coming BACK! Yay for New Gilmore Girls!!

So, who else thinks I should give this site a facelift to live up to the modern Gilmore Girls coming soon?!

    Yay!

It will be 4 90-minute movies so all is good! I hope they can get Sookie for at least one even if she’s so busy these days!

Hart of Dixie is over so the set is available for Stars Hollow!

I’m so happy that I could cry. I lost count on how many times I watch all 7 seasons. It’s just like you describe. Oh my… I hope it will be on air next year. Do you think that you’ll be possible? P.S.: I totally agree with the site’s facelift.

Very cool, the new kid on the block with the big checkbook just stepped in and made them an offer they couldn’t refuse!! As logical as this is with Netflix constantly on the lookout for fresh new content, and especially after picking up the original series for streaming, I’m surprised it never occurred to me that this could/should/would happen.Well done and thanks!!

Somewhere Alexis is in a corner hyperventilating and repeating to herself “OMG, what have I gotten myself into?”

She’s going to have by far the hardest job here. She’s spent most of the last eight years pushing herself away from Rory and seeing what else she can do. Now she has to put all that aside. Plus they probably aren’t going to jump 8 years into the future so she will have to play much younger than she ever has.

This project will be successful no matter what but if she can handle her role, it could be epic.

So excited!!! I believe Amy will do it right as she promised, and the fans won’t be disappointed.

Please, no facelift. Not yet, at least. I would like to see Richard in the line up of photos at the top.

Someone just forwarded this to me and I am so excited – heck I guess I have to get Netflix! I hope as many characters as possible can “stop in” but mostly I am looking forward to seeing the adult to adult relationship between Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham.
Lauren brought an authentic character to life that has helped me form my relationship with my (then teenage) daughter. I have applied many of the situtations and conversations and also reaped the benefits of a close bond.
The only sadness about this reunion will be missing Edward Herrmann.

Sally Struthers (Babette) announced that she is under contract for the 4 movies. I can’t wait. I always thought the series ended too soon. Will Loreli be with Luke for the movies?

Thanks Carol! Somehow this makes the whole thing more real than knowing just the principals are signing up. Could you let us know where you heard this?
