Alexis Bledel is Back on TV Next Month!

Share

Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore) is guest starring in an episode of Motive next month! The acclaimed Canadian ‘whydunit’ crime drama begins its third season on March 8 on CTV. Here’s a pic of Alexis on-set,  Instagrammed by co-guest-star Ben Hollingsworth.

auto-motive

For the uninitiated, the formula of this show reveals the killer and the victim at the start of the episode, with the detectives (hopefully) unravelling the MOTIVE of the crime as the plot progresses.  I’m assuming Alexis is either the killer or the killee… with that scrubby haircut and very un-Rory-like shirt, I’m pretty sure she’s a psychopath.  We should follow proper Stars Hollow town meeting decorum and vote – if you think Rory’s the killer, raise your hands…

Her episode is currently slated for March 22, 10pm ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO. Mark your calendars eh?

I’ve been suffering a certain Alexis-less-ness recently and found that her series ‘Us & Them‘, which was tragically cancelled last year, appears to be floating around the internets. We thought the show had a lot of promise – a solid cast, strong pedigree and of course, Alexis.  If I can get hold of it, I shall report back. Has anyone already seen Us & Them?

Are you already watching Motive?  If not, will you be switching over on Sunday nights?

Rich

Rich originally began contributing to GIlmore News as 'Dairyman' in 2013, a reference to the character Dairyman Dick in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, (call me Rich). Here in the UK we were late to the Gilmore party and I don't remember what made me watch my first episode - the one where Lorelai picks Rory up from the police station after she and Logan steal a yacht - but I remember watching it again immediately. And then again. Thankfully, the next show was on the next day and I watched that one three times too. And then the boat one again. I couldn't believe the dialogue was so quick and so funny and I pretended to myself that I was only watching it so I could figure out who I was more keen on - the mom or the daughter. I swore that Aaron Sorkin must have been involved but I couldn't find his name attached anywhere, even on the internet. So I watched and loved and laughed and cried and the day after the series finale, they ran the entire show from the beginning again and Rory turned into a baby so then I was all about Lorelai. Lauren Graham is astonishing ("Mother: Breathtaking") and the show was - and is - lightning in a bottle. It's a treasure for those who watch and get swept up in it, like I did and like the readers of Gilmore News. It's heartbreak and chicken soup, family dysfunction and blind optimism, lighthearted romanticism and balls-out brilliant. Thanks to Arieanna and gilmorenews.com for letting me squat and allowing my inner Gilmore Geek out for air. I worry how it would otherwise manifest.

Unfortunately don’t get CTV so don’t get Motive and will have to wait for someone else’s final commentary. As to the role for AB, I vote ix-nay as the iller-kay since in the last few years she already played a successful sociopathic Canadian policewoman/killer in the Kate Logan Affair and a teenage thrill killer/assassin in Violet and Daisy. This only leaves roles as either the helpful witness – amatueur sluth [aka Murder She Wrote] or [dum-da-da] the killee. If it’s the latter role, hope she goes out in style putting a big hurt on the killer[s] and leaving a trail of clues even Cleuseau couldn’ t miss to help define the motivation.

Now that I’ve watched this, I want to write it up even more than I do for Us and Them. There are some juicy GG-related tidbits. For starters, Alexis portrays Robin Gould. The picture above is a flashback scene from college. Let’s just call that outfit “activewear”. It bears no resemblance to how she dresses in most of the episode. Hi everyone, I have a question and it’s about the dog, the one pictured above and the one that appears in the show. Is that Alexis Bledel’s dog? It sure looks like the one she’s been photographed walking. This little trivia really bugs me.

What a great question, Martin Superfan. I thought it was a labrador pup at first but after going back to see the walking pics (google images for ‘alexis bledel’s dog’) it certainly does look Sophie’s size. However the overexposed area around the pooch hides a definitive confirmation. Anyone care to weigh in? I’m sure co-star Ben Hollingsworth would know.

Late to the party as usual, I tripped across the last 15 minutes of this episode tonight on USA. It will be repeated at midnight [central time] and then again tomorrow [11PM Sturday night] for those who did not see it last year when it first appeared on CTV. Happy viewing—-
