Upcoming Gilmore Cast News!

Share

Some of our favourite faces are getting bizzay this year.  Yay!

Lauren Graham (duh, Lorelai Gilmore) is back back back and possibly getting it on with Ray Romano in Parenthood‘s upcoming fifth season.  While I love Raymond (doesn’t Everybody?), I can’t help squinting and pretending he’s Max.  Medina.  Maaaaaax Medina.

squint really hard

Milo Ventimiglia (Jess Mariano) is a busy bunny right now, having signed up for the TV pilot of alien sci-fi show, The Visitors.  Sounding like a cross between V and Battlestar Galactica, aliens are among us and up to no good.  Milo will feature in the pilot as John Doe, covered in tattoos and speaking a funny language.  Sounds like me after one too many glasses of sherry.  He’s also in the remake of Burt Reynold’s 1986 movie Heat, due out in August this year.

Plus, there’s also word that Heroes is getting a re-boot.  Might we see Milo back as Peter Petrelli?  One can only hope that Heroes Reborn, due in 2015, is a return to the soaring heights of the first series and not the dismal dregs of anything that came after.

Finally, a nod to a friend of the family.  Bailey (cute-as-a) Buntain (Ginny from Amy Sherman-Palladino’s Bunheads) has been cast in Lifetime’s sequel to Flowers in the Attic.   No word on whether she’ll be bouncing around dressed as a bumblebee but those attic siblings must have found something to pass the time.  I mean, besides all the incest.

Anything take your fancy?  Who’d you really like to see back on the screen or stage?

Rich

Rich originally began contributing to GIlmore News as 'Dairyman' in 2013, a reference to the character Dairyman Dick in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, (call me Rich). Here in the UK we were late to the Gilmore party and I don't remember what made me watch my first episode - the one where Lorelai picks Rory up from the police station after she and Logan steal a yacht - but I remember watching it again immediately. And then again. Thankfully, the next show was on the next day and I watched that one three times too. And then the boat one again. I couldn't believe the dialogue was so quick and so funny and I pretended to myself that I was only watching it so I could figure out who I was more keen on - the mom or the daughter. I swore that Aaron Sorkin must have been involved but I couldn't find his name attached anywhere, even on the internet. So I watched and loved and laughed and cried and the day after the series finale, they ran the entire show from the beginning again and Rory turned into a baby so then I was all about Lorelai. Lauren Graham is astonishing ("Mother: Breathtaking") and the show was - and is - lightning in a bottle. It's a treasure for those who watch and get swept up in it, like I did and like the readers of Gilmore News. It's heartbreak and chicken soup, family dysfunction and blind optimism, lighthearted romanticism and balls-out brilliant. Thanks to Arieanna and gilmorenews.com for letting me squat and allowing my inner Gilmore Geek out for air. I worry how it would otherwise manifest.

The missing last two episodes of BH that should have been shot to complete their first season would be wildly appreciated. How about a little crowdsourcing effort here??

Any news on where LG’s book to screen effort stands??

Any news on AB’s still to be seen TV series and whether it escaped limbo or has forever evaporated??

As to Heroes, hard to believe that they could ever approach the quality of the first three quarters of season 1 [seemed like they badly fudged the conclusion there as well] so this seems like a really bad idea and IMHO thought “Heat” was one of the worst uses of BR and CE ever so hard to believe anyone wants to remake that movie without a major revision.

Heroes [SPOILER ALERT] totally jumped the shark when Sylar didn’t die at the end of series one.

That Tell movie you were talking about last week, staring Milo Ventimiglia and Jason Lee, that’s what I’m really looking forward to see. My interest in Heroes faded fast after that first season (like horror movie franchises: a great first one and then…..), I don’t really see the point in doing a re-boot. Who would I like to see back? I don’t really know, but I sometimes wonder whatever happened to Scott Patterson, haven’t heard from him in years.

Last time I saw Scott was in The Event, which had a decent cast but got fizzled out – one of the downsides of stretching an otherwise decent storyline over 16 or 24 episodes… Kinda the opposite of what the BBC have been doing recently with Sherlock and Luther. Encouragingly, IMDb says Scott has 4 things in pre-production this year!

Saw in Entertainment Weekly that the sequel to Sin City was shot last year and is due out this August 22nd. They did not outline the full cast. Any chance “Becky” [AB] got to reprise her role??

Sadly no sign of Becky. Shame, since she was so poised at the end for a decent storyline.

Last night caught an oldie but goodie movie that I had not seen in 20+ years [“An Unmarrried Woman”].The heroine in the movie [Jill Clayburg] had a “Sex and the City” style trio of friends [in considerably more realistic plotlines than Cariie’s group ever portrayed] that included Kelly Bishop in a standout supporting role. When I watched it back in the day, the identity of that particular actresss never really registered. Good overall movie and an alternate view of what might have happened to Emily Gilmore [neurotic and man-hating] if she had not won the tossup with Penalon Lott for Richard.
