Bunheads oppa Gilmore style

I love a bit of Gilmore with my Bunheads and it looks like I’m not the only one.

honey-glazed bunheads

Self-confessed Gilmore and Bunheads lover ‘ByCamz’ joined the Sherman-Palladino party late but has made up for it with a very respectful melding of the Gilmore Girls intro theme ‘Where You Lead’ with well-chosen and amber-fogged clips from Bunheads.  It’s really well done.

How much do you want Bunheads Season 2?  I am keeping all fingers and legs crossed.

ByCamz, we salute you.  Click Sutton’s gleeful face or here for the YouTube vid.

With a thankful nod to bazinga for the tip-off.

Rich originally began contributing to GIlmore News as 'Dairyman' in 2013, a reference to the character Dairyman Dick in Tess of the D'Urbervilles, (call me Rich). Here in the UK we were late to the Gilmore party and I don't remember what made me watch my first episode - the one where Lorelai picks Rory up from the police station after she and Logan steal a yacht - but I remember watching it again immediately. And then again. Thankfully, the next show was on the next day and I watched that one three times too. And then the boat one again. I couldn't believe the dialogue was so quick and so funny and I pretended to myself that I was only watching it so I could figure out who I was more keen on - the mom or the daughter. I swore that Aaron Sorkin must have been involved but I couldn't find his name attached anywhere, even on the internet. So I watched and loved and laughed and cried and the day after the series finale, they ran the entire show from the beginning again and Rory turned into a baby so then I was all about Lorelai. Lauren Graham is astonishing ("Mother: Breathtaking") and the show was - and is - lightning in a bottle. It's a treasure for those who watch and get swept up in it, like I did and like the readers of Gilmore News. It's heartbreak and chicken soup, family dysfunction and blind optimism, lighthearted romanticism and balls-out brilliant. Thanks to Arieanna and gilmorenews.com for letting me squat and allowing my inner Gilmore Geek out for air. I worry how it would otherwise manifest.

Bunheads like Gilmore Girls ??? I’m not sure… Of course the theme, the exploration of the inner characters can be found in both series… Yet, Lorelai or Michelle Simms couldn’t even be considered as sister… Two different worlds set in an American society, but somehow different too because of its gigantic size… Would Rory even be really friend with the dancers ? One thing is sure, it’s really a very good series…. Wonder if it’ll be a second season…

Thanks for commenting F! I’d agree that Paradise and Stars Hollow probably couldn’t exist together, it’s more of a parallel world, which explains the striking similarity between a lot of the townsfolk!

Notice ABCF is starting to promote their summer evening linup like crazy with two new one-hour shows, one in the time spot I had hoped was reserved for BH. Any update you can provide??

The Twitterverse resounds with your query mcityrk. With all the new season promos going on at the moment, there’s a tangible response from Bunheads fans Twittering to be put out of their misery.

The cast are doing a stand up job keeping shtum. Just this week Stacey Oristano (the equally gorgeous and potty Truly) pleaded for abcfamily not to cancel Bunheads. And – hot off the press – two hours ago, Sutton Foster (Michelle) tweeted the quartet “miss you guys”. Emma Dumont (Melanie) replied, wishing Sutton a fab summer. Yeah it’s new but it’s not news.

The renewal for ABC Family’s The Lying Game is also pending and deadline.com reckons the shows’ fates will be announced simultaneously – perhaps one over the other. Come on ABC Family, do the right thing! I need resolution! More than that, I need my ballet-toting ukelele-duetting pseudo-Gilmore fix and there’s only one show that does that.

Seriously, if it gets renewed I’ll write you a nice ‘Why You Should Be Watching Bunheads’ piece and we’ll call it even. Shake on it?

Sadly my June Cable Guide shows no BH on ABCF. Considering the short number of shows in the winter season can’t be that surprised. Too bad!! Maybe in the fall??

Buzzfeed posted a statement from ASP on the Bunheads limbo situation:

“I thank you for giving a shit at all. It’s a little heartbreaking to me to think I’m not going to have a chance to see Lady Foster, Dame Bishop and my Bunheads every day but that is the business of show.
Who knows? Maybe there’s a shot still. After all Mark Sanford just got elected so seriously anything’s possible.”

    Keep everything crossed guys…
