Gilmore Girls Returns to ABC Family

Share

This summer, it appeared that ABC Family was pulling the plug on re-runs of Gilmore Girls, replacing the 5pm timeslot with The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Although not returning to the 5pm slot, ABC Family will be playing Gilmore Girls re-runs at 11am starting on October 3rd. The show picks up in Season 3.

It’s not clear if fan incentive brought the show back or not, at least in re-runs, but we like to think it did!

Oh well, a job halfway done……….For what it is worth, ABCF seems to be running a lot of different things in the previous PM timeslot through all of October. Just a matter of time before they figure out they might want/need a consistent audience there to set up the start to their evening lineup.

That house at Windsor Estates on Scotchtown Avenue near Stony Ford looks like something you see in Gilmore Girls. Would you live there?

Well I’m glad they are doing reruns but I wish that it wouldn’t be during school or work. Hopefully when they see a lot of people recording and watching it, they will move it back. This is a victory though! It’s nice to now that ths show ended almost, wow, four years ago, and it still has an entire community backing it up. I’m sure that in no time, Gilmore Girls will retake the 5p.m. time slot, and we shall go back to Gilmore Girls being on twice a day.

I’m happy to see it back on but I wouldn’t count on it for too long. ABC Family is becoming more notorious for not being able to hold a steady schedule. I think i saw a weeks ago That 70s Show was being aired in a 4 hour block. Does anyone really want to watch that much That 70s Show? Just invest in the DVDs. I was able to buy mine used but in perfect condition for 15 bucks.

From the Department of Insanely Correlated Events:

Point 1. Friday, 7/15/11 – Gilmore Girls last summer showing…DJI at 12,479. Four trading days later DJI hits summer peak of 12,724 and starts a 10 week swoon.

Point 2. Friday, 9/30/11 – Last day without showing of Gilmore Girls… DJI at 10,913. Two trading days later DJI hits its bottom at 10,326 or almost 19% lower than its summer high.

Point 3. Friday, 10/14/11 – After 2 weeks of Gilmore Girls return to ABCF ….DJI at 11,644 or recovering over half the stated falloff. Coincidence or leading indicator?? You be the judge!!

Who knows where we will be at the end of October or if we get back the second time slot as well??

All kidding aside, thanks Girls, glad to see you back where you belong!!

Bizarre scheduling from ABCF once again. A sudden jump from near the end of season 3 to Rory’s 21st birthday party in season 6???? A halloween joke to commemorate the only HW episode theme on GG or merely getting back on the schedule that would have happened without the summer hiatus. Guess we find out the answer to that tomorrow. If it is the latter, does that mean the ending of season 7 near the end of the calander year represents our final view of the Girls on ABCF??

Under the heading of ABCF just did what?????? They’re back!!!!!!

As of Monday of this week, it appears that the “usual” afternoon time slot has been reclaimed by Gilmore Girls. Nothing in any of the cable guides or newspapers to indicate this was going to happen or any real advance warning from ABCF that this was in the works. Got lucky and saw a promo for GG about 3:50 CST on Monday, thought it might be a mistake so hung around expecting at best a replay of the currently running season 6 episodes. However, much to my surprise when the clock stuck 4, get the standard fade to black followed by the opening chords of “Here She Goes” followed by every “word-perfect” line of dialogue of the Pilot. Thought it might have been a fluke but sure enough, today there was episode 1.2 right on schedule. Guess that confirms we are off and running!!!

    Thanks ABCF!!!

Lorelai always drives a Jeep Wrangler. I don’t want to drive because it would scare me.
