Kelly Bishop in “Anything Goes”

Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore on Gilmore Girls) is returning to the stage as part of Anything Goes. Kelly, herself a Tony Award-winner for Sheila in A Chorus Line, joints the Tony Award-winning production of Anything Goes as Evangeline Harcourt, taking over the role from Jessica Walter.

Summary of the show: The story concerns madcap antics aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. Billy Crocker is a stowaway in love with heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeney and Public Enemy #13 Moonface Martin aid Billy in his quest to win Hope.

Kelly will begin performances in Anything Goes on August 9th. The production of this revival is set to run until January 8th, 2012, so Kelly will likely be on board for the duration of the show.

Kelly’s character, Evangeline Harcourt, Hope’s “haughty and overbearing mother.” Sounds like perfect casting to me!

Awesome!! Shes such a great actress.

Btw, Riki Lindhome and Vanessa Morano were both on Love Bites on NBC last night!

  2. Good luck Kelly Bishop, we love you:)!

it’s funny that Emily and Richard sang a modified version of “You’re the Top” (one of the songs from Anything Goes) for Rory’s Yale Graduation and now she’s going to be in the musical. Her character doesn’t sing the song though, but Reno Sweeney played by Sutton Foster. I can’t wait to see Kelly Bishop on stage :)
