Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and in honor of that, many notable lists are being drawn up about TV moms. One such list is Buddy TV’s “Worst TV Moms Ever”
Clocking in at #13 on the list is Emily Gilmore. They say that, though her relationship with Lorelai “improved a bit” by the end of the series, “it pretty much remained strained” and that Emily was “snooty and very difficult to please.”
Well, at least she wasn’t #1, right?

I have to disagree with this. The description was harsh of her. Emily has done her best to be a good mother and wants to have a relationship with her daughter desperately. We can clearly see this in episodes such as “There’s the Rub” in Season 2. However, Lorelai is different to Emily and they do get along for a lot of the series. Emily Gilmore is a very complex character and she only did what she knew about parenting.
I disagree also. She loves Lorelai and cares for her. She’s always willing to help Lorelai out financially, although, there are often strings attached. Just because she doesn’t always understand Lorelai doesn’t mean she is a terrible mother.
