“Parenthood” 1.06 ‘The Big O’ Discussion

Parenthood 1.06 “The Big O”
Air Date: April 6, 2010
Discussion & Full Video [Spoilers, Photos, Video Trailer]

This was a great episode of Parenthood! First off – love Mark Cyr! Yowza! I can see why Sarah (Lauren Graham) – and Amber! – are falling for him! Sarah had a mom (ahem, Lorelai too) moment in trying to consider the complications of dating a younger man who is also her daughter’s teacher. But in the end, Mark won her over with his persistence. I can just see some pain coming for Amber though. So sad.

Other thoughts:

  • Go Crosby!! I’m SO glad he "grew up" and that his family was understanding (I thought, for a moment, they wouldn’t be)
  • Max is such a cute kid and I’m so proud of him for the progress he’s made. The aide is doing a fantastic job!
  • I’m proud of Joel for talking to Julia about the ‘romance’ issues. He could have easily lied, but he didn’t. I’m also really proud that Julia put her daughter first – and put her trust in her husband as a priority. Really not an easy thing to do.
  • The Adam / Kristina sub-plot, which is hinted at in the title, was quite funny
  • There were a lot of "good" forward momentum things in this episode, but not too many things that made me compelled to see the next episode. Not enough new conflicts created.

*Loved* this episode. LG had so many great lines. I love when she and Crosby are talking and she says “IIII know” drawing out the I and emphasizing the ‘know.’ She did this a few times as Lorelai and I love it :) The kiss between her and the teach was HOT! and so sweet :) Sarah really turned on the girl charm for him. And for once she did not have much to whine about in this episode. Oh yes! The scene with Adam-as we saw on the Tonight Show-was good. I loved Sarah’s cover-up when Amber walked in.

I kind of like that we are not sure what is going to come next. I actually decided I do not like to watch the promos and spoilers for the next episode because they always seem much more dramatic than the situation turns out to be. The way Julia resolved the whole Raquel thing seemed a bit hasty, but we’ll see I guess…

    - Okay Lauren Graham’s Sarah this episode is very Lorelai, I can’t help but notice it, the first scene with her “why do school have to start at 8:30am” rant is something Lorelai will say
At talaga idedate talaga nya yung English teacher, although twist ngayon eh May-December affair with their 12 year age gap. And also Amber’s crush. I was also laughing when Sarah said maybe Amber is smoking, drinking or stealing something on why she’s not home yet

    - “Thank you for trying, come back soon” – Sarah to Adam about fake orgasms I love their talk regarding that sa episode.

    - I love how Crosby told his parents about Jabar. at this exchange
“What kind of name is Jabar” – Grandpa Zeke
“What kind of name is Zeek” – Crosby

    - I love Minka Kelly as Max’s behavioral aide , she is so charming. I hope she returns in the next episodes.

-I’m glad Julia didn’t break Sydney and Harmony. The kids should be spared and Joel is a great husband anyway
