The Good Wife 1.02 “Stripped” (aka “Crack”)
Air Date: September 29, 2009

the-good-wife-06.jpgLast night the second episode of CBS‘ new series The Good Wife aired. The second episode involved Alicia (Julianna Margulies) taking on the case of a stripper who was raped at a bachelor party. This brings up, for her, a lot of associations with her husband, who had recently been exposed for sleeping with hookers. Alicia starts to suspect her husband and, perhaps finally, to not gloss over all his misdeeds.

Meanwhile, we didn’t see a whole lot of Cary (Matt Czuchry) in the episode. We got the impression that he was still trying to manipulate Alicia and to “look good” to his superiors in every way, but the show is still focused mostly on Alicia’s cases. I hope they expand this to show us more of the lives and cases of the others in the firm, don’t you?

  • I liked that Alicia was finally facing some of the things her husband did
  • I thought it was very strong of her kids to try to shield her from those photos – and what a mystery now that has become!
  • The case was good – especially given that it wasn’t "perfect" the way so many other legal shows tend to be
  • I am itching to know more about the other people in the firm
  • Still has me wanting to watch more!!

What did you think of the episode? If you missed it, you can watch the full episode on CBS here. For more about The Good Wife, check out our season 1 summary page here.

I thought Cary was such an insensitive jerk when he practically made Alicia watch the video of her husband that ‘everyone else’ had apparently already seen. He asked her if she wanted to see it and she said no, obviously because she was avoiding it. But he took it as her thinking it would put him out so he sent her the link anyway (which she then needed to watch out of curiosity because it was there!). He’s sly-its like he’s messing with her head but plays it off as being the generous guy. He plays it so well!

And I totally agree that the case was good b/c it was not perfect. After Alicia pulled off a big win last week, I thought we were going to see a lot of that going on. And yes, I want to know more about the people at the firm as well. So far its only been focusing on the cases.
