In ‘The Breakup: Part 2“, Rory is boxing away all her Dean stuff, following her break-up (because she couldn’t say ‘I Love You’ to him). She’s not just hurt, but also mad. She’s refusing to wallow. When eventually the tears do catch up with her, Rory decides to distract herself by going to Madeline’s party. At the party, Tristan is having some issues of his own. His girlfriend, Summer, is making out with another guy and is being very rude to Tristan.

When Rory later walks in on Tristan in a quiet area, they share some bonding over their mutual relationship issues. It ends, of course, with a kiss. I don’t know if it’s a kiss because they like each other, or because they are both in so much pain… or maybe a little bit of both?
In the end, Rory reciprocates the kiss but then runs out crying… so that just adds to the confusion. What do you think? Does Rory like Tristan? Does the kiss make her feel guilty, or just miss Dean?

I think this depends on who’s side you look at it.
From Rory’s point of view she is really upset about Dean and needs some comfort and someone to talk to. I think that is all that’s on rory’s mind.
From Tristanas point of view he is also looking for a bit of comfort, but he has made is clear that he likes Rory so maybe there is a little bit of him that kisses her because of that. I don’t think he initially plans to kiss her but when she actually talks to him and shows him that they can get on his attraction take sover and he kisses her.
Maybe I’m wrong but thats what I think.
An intricate situation in an intrigue that still don’t exactly know where everything goes.
Tristan clearly had a crush on Rory, if not more. His reaction to Rory suggesting he’s not over Summer in the next episode makes that clear.
Rory was probably going through a mix of things – missing Dean, yes, but come on, Tristan wasn’t unattractive, despite his very large head! He was cast because he was cute.
I always thought before Jess came along, Tristan was being set up to represent a challenge to Dean, maybe after he got busted one time too many and started to change to try to get Rory’s attention — like a test-run for Logan. But he went off to do the OC so his character left.
But it’s a little eerie how similar he looks to Logan (a taller thinner version), much like Teddy Dunn (Graham Sullivan) looks like a shorter version of Dean.
i think rory is just confused and feeling a little sorry for tristan, she has been chased by tristan for awhile, she is emotionally unstable from the breakup with dean and she sees tristan fighting with summer (i think thats her name) and feels sorry for him so she wants to comfort him but at the same time wants to be comforted. and tristans relationship with summer was because rory wouldn’t go out with him so wen he and summer break it off and he’s finally alone with rory he takes his chance. the kiss between them, in my opinion reminds rory how much she likes, and maybe loves, dean which makes her cry and she runs out cuz she doesn’t want to hurt tristan any more then he already is
I am not sure what was behind that kiss. I never really thought of it. I mean, Tristan always liked Rory. I think Rory probably deep down liked that he always liked her. That is how the Gilmore Girls are with men, which is why Lorelai stuck with men she KNEW she didn’t love. Tristan was upset and lonely, and Rory was there. I think that is pretty much it. LOL.
i think that Rory and Tristan should be together because after that kiss i think that Rory was trying to think aboout her feel for Tristan at the same time she was tell Dean how she Feel about him and i think that Tristan really like Rory and i think that after that kiss Tristan really like Rory and i do think that one day Tristan and Rory will be together.
