On ‘Concert Interruptus,’ Lorelai learns about Luke’s ex-girlfriend, Rachel, and becomes jealous. Yes, jealous of a “woman who dumped a man I’m not interested in five years ago.” When she asks Sookie what kind of pretty Rachel was, Sookie describes her as an “Elle MacPherson” kind of pretty. Lorelai can’t picture Luke with someone an “Elle MacPherson kind of pretty”. Sookie asks if she pictured him with a “Lorelai Gilmore kind of pretty”, which got me thinking… if we’re going to compare Rachel to someone famous, then who is Lorelai (and obviously Lauren Graham) “kind of pretty” like?

Which celebrity do YOU think Lorelai is like?

Hmm. I think Stanley Appleman’s wife got it right. Lorelai/Lauren Graham is definitely an Elizabeth Taylor kind of pretty.
She gets compared to Audrey Hepburn alot which I think is fair. They both pretty but kind of odd features with very intense eyes. Though, Hepburn has a bit of a more classy vibe than Lorelai (or Lauren).
I think due to her height, athleticism, and active physical presence that Lauren’s/Lorelai’s kind of pretty/beauty comes more out of SI than out of old Hollywood’s passive type of pretty/beauty. At the present time Daniella Sarahyba [of the last few SI swimsuit issues] would be an incredibly close “kid-sister with brown eyes” copy of Lauren.
I think she really lends herself to “old Hollywood” comparisions!!! I think Miss Celine knock it on the head with Natalie Wood! Also sometimes I think she has a Katharine Hepburnish quality about her although that is maybe more her distinctive speech patterns than her looks! As John Hindamn said – she is the Rosalind Russell of our day!
Ryan – are you maybe thinking of Alexis with the Audrey comparison? Cos I’ve heard that a lot but i’ve never heard Lauren compared to her – she really doesn’t have the waif thing going! As Mcityrk says she has a large physical presence! Although she is super slim she is really powerful looking which I don’t see in Audrey.
Kate Beckinsale pretty
I posted earlier but it’s not here now?!
I think that Lauren really harks back to “old Hollywood” both in her looks and her mannerisms/speech patterns! Miss Celine had it down with the Natalie Wood think too – the resemblence it quite funny!
I think Lauren reminds a lot of people in the Biz of 40′s actresses – John Hindman always refers to her a Roz Russell & a few have put her distinctive voice up with Katharine Hepburn!!!
Ryan – are you thinking of Alexis with the Audrey comparison? ive heard it a lot with her but never with Lauren! News to me!!!
Sorry, Claire, your comment was stuck in moderation. Just needed to wait for me to wake up today and approve it ;)
I think she’s a Sandra Bullock kind of pretty. She’s goofy and fun, doesn’t take herself too serioiusly, likes to flirt, yet is drop-dead gorgeous.
That is hard to answer because she is more famous than most of the people I can compare her with. I guess I would say she is a Jennifer-Connelly-kind-of-pretty, just with curly hair (usually).
I would agree, that she is “Elizabeth Taylor” pretty, she also has this spunk.
She reminds me of my former Irish roommate but that doesn’t speak to anyone but me! :-)
I can’t really say. She’s pretty for sure, in her very unique way IMO so I find it hard to compare.
I know that every time I watch ??? (TV show) one of the characters reminds me of Lorelai. But it slipped my mind for now…
PS: I love this episode. For the very first time, Lorelai shows some kind of fellings for Luke – even though she denies strongly – while it usually is the other way around…
She’s her own kind of pretty, can’t be compared to anyone.
P.S.
She doesn’t get compared to Audrey Hepburn, Alexis Bledel does.
I agree with Claire, I think Lauren has a very “old Hollywood” look. I thought Guys & Dolls was a good fit for her look, when you saw her in her costumes for the show you totally believed she just walked out of the 30′s!!
im stuck between Natalie Wood, Jennifer Connely, and Elizabeth Taylor=]
lauren graham is very pretty!
she got old world charm, combined with classic good looks
