On ‘Gilmore Girls Only‘, we start to see people in Rory’s life realize that perhaps she won’t always be there. Lorelai, probably anxious for more alone time with Rory, tries to get Rory to come to Mia’s wedding. Rory wasn’t planning on going, being busy with her interviews and with Logan’s immaturity. However, after finally standing up to Logan, telling him she’s “not going to support every stupid decision” he makes, she decides she needs to get away from him.

Overhearing about the road trip, Emily decides she too wants to get away from Richard and to spend time with Rory. Lorelai is anxious that Rory may move far away to join a paper, though Emily takes it as a natural thing that may happen. She even asks Rory how Logan will take it – because they take it for granted that Rory would put her career before any boy. Rory is also anxious that Emily & Lorelai “bond” more, in case she moves away.
Meanwhile, while Emily & Lorelai are individually trying to picture life without Rory, Logan travels all the way to the wedding to see Rory. Rory wants nothing to do with him; since Logan ditched Lane’s baby shower to go to Vegas, she’s annoyed that he’d simply show up when it was Rory who needed time off from everything (ie from Logan). Perhaps this was obvious to Logan? That Rory was pulling away from him? Only then did Logan take charge of his own life… making me wonder… did he do it for himself, or for Rory?

Hello Arieanna, maybe you can help me with a little problem. As of yesterday the site won’t display new comments. Is it my problem or the site’s, please give me a hint. I’m from Germany and use IE6.
Everybody knows that Rory is going to get a good job and thats why everyone wnts to hang out with her. I would like to hang out with her.
I love the scene when Lorelai, after all these years, finally admits to Emily that it must have been hard for her when she left.
Lorelai has probably never pictured her life without Rory since they were always so close. Now, she comes to realise that’s coming soon and that she’ll be all alone. It probably hit her with Rory going to interviews and everything.
It was good that she finally acknowledges that Emily, even though she’s Emily, went through the same thing.
I love the dress that Lorelai wears to the wedding!
The bug on that should have been fixed – is it still not working?
@Arieanna
as of right now, the answer to your question is no. For example, http://www.gilmorenews.com/2009/06/24/who-you-wished-were-real-jess-dean-or-logan
reports 4 comments, but I can only see one.
of course due to the bug, can you even see my response?
I feel for you…I’m also doing bug-stomping.
I can see all the comments from the blog admin interface, but there are definitely some persistent issues here. Hopefully they’re resolved quickly!
Was it really necessary to recast Mia with a younger actress?
Yes I guess, I would like too, even if it already happens in my imagination.
Once I read a comment implying that her playing was limited…
That’s absolutely wrong. I started to look more closely to the way she plays, and did the same thing with some other actresses. Then it occurred to me that she’s so sensible and sensitive. All her face is moving, her body moves like a reed moved by a light breeze. She has so much to give us!
Yes, I may be off the subject once again, but, yes that’s a dream to meet the character, as well as the original…
Ryan, I have no idea why they recast the part of Mia – perhaps they could not get the original actress, or maybe they wanted to use someone many U.S. viewers would remember from a great TV show of the mid-1990s, “Picket Fences.” Kathy Baker (who played the second Mia) co-starred with Tom Skerritt in Picket Fences – and Adam Wylie, who played their youngest son, grew up to be Rory Gilmore’s classmate Brad Langford, who sang “Cherish” during his speech at the Chilton graduation. My guess is that there were “Picket Fences” fans on the casting team for Gilmore Girls…and I loved Picket Fences too, just thought they should have used the original Mia and found a different role for Kathy Baker on Gilmore Girls. (She could have been one of Taylor’s annoying relatives, or Kirk’s mother, or some interesting person staying at the Dragonfly that drove Michel nuts. There were SO many possibilities.) But what’s done is done. The seventh season had a lot of disappointments, and this was another one.
One of the best episodes of the season and speaking of “everyone wants time with Rory”, I noticed that the cable channel called SOAP is running AB’s earliest movie “Tuck Everlasting” Sunday evening after a prior doubleheader of Gilmore Girls. A highly underappreciated effort that a lot of fans never had a chance to see.
