Today we begin some discussions related to Gilmore Girls Season 7! First off, in the premiere, ‘The Long Morrow‘, we see Lorelai waking up in Christopher’s bed (*shudder*) after she ran to him after Luke “let her walk away.” Oh, there’s so much wrong here (and shame on Christopher for taking advantage of Lorelai!).
While Rory’s fears re-ignite about Logan’s fidelity while he’s away for the next year, it’s Lorelai who has jumped into bed with another man just seconds after her “break up” with Luke. It was so fast there’s no chance for it to just be a “fight”. And this reminds me a lot of Logan jumping into bed with Honor’s friends when he thought he was broken up from Rory.
So, did Lorelai pull a Logan? Did she move too quickly, without seeing what the fallout with Luke would be? Without giving him a chance? Lorelai obviously has regrets the next day about sleeping with Christopher, so part of her must know it was wrong. Lorelai has always know that Luke needs time to think – to digest – big news. Heck, they’ve fought about it before. So why did she assume her ultimatum would get an immediate reaction out of him? Should Lorelai have waited for Luke to digest her pain (which she’d been hiding for months), which he ended up doing? And, knowing that he’d need time, what does Lorelai’s lack of waiting say about what she wants?
If you want to learn more about the “love rocket” in the episode, you can see my post here.

ALSO! lorlai gave luke an ultamatum, saying lets get married now or never. this is pretty much what logan did, when he proposed to rory, saying now or never. just thought id throw that out there
How can you compare Lorelai & Logan? Those were completely different situations. The only thing they have in common is the desperate need for consolation. They are blind from the pain.
Lorelai have no patience for want rush and marry Luke in elope, but I hate she gave him an ultamatum poor Luke and she is selfish.
Logan is whimper and stubborn that he want Rory back, cuz he still love in with her.
It seems like anytime that Lorelai is emotionally assulted and Chris is around that he becomes her “comfortable-as-an-old-shoe” designated pain killer. The lack of wisdom in that decision making is always obvious as it ultimately causes even greater problems. However, that behavior, stupid as it might be, does not seem as spiteful and insidious as Logan’s “anybody, anytime, anywhere” behavior after the fight with Rory.
I think that Lorelai is weak and uses bad judgment to go to her “old shoe” for comfort.
It is not Loganesc.
It is only one time that she does this in her hour of need. She regrets its every time the next day.
Logan repeats his actions over and over and with out remorse until it comes out.
I think it’s pretty fu**** up what she did to Luke! There could have been a way much better story line! Like her getting pregnant from Luke!
In season 4/5, Lorelai lectured Rory about Dean cheating on his wife and that she was cheating with him.
But that’s exactly what she did to Luke. She’s engaged and yet she sleeps with somebody else.
Because I’m sorry but her “I have to go” didn’t imply “I break up with you”.
Luke probably didn’t see it that way. And at least he didn’t think she would use that exact moment to sleep around and hurt him so much.
Lorelai is strong, independant but she’s so weak when it comes to Christopher.
He also took advantage of her. If he was a real friend, like he pretends he is, he should have only comforted her and not slept with her.
But on the whole, the biggest screw up takes places in episode 7 “French Twist” when they get married (I hate that this episode takes place in France! Plus, we are shown in a very bad way there. So many clichés…).
Her sleeping with him might have been just a big mistake. But by making them get married the writers prevented Luke and Lorelai from working things out for the whole first part of the season.
So back to the initial topic (sorry for drifting away): Lorelai didn’t exactly pull a Logan since she knew that what she did was wrong. Plus she did it with someone who has been in her life for a long time.
Logan was just being Logan. He thought he lost Rory, the only girl who has meant anything for him and whi actually made him change. So when he thinks it’s over he goes back to being who he was.
And the cluster!@#$ that is Season 7 begins…
Throughout all the seasons, Lorelai has acted this way. In season 2 (“Teach Me Tonight”), Luke and Lorelai fight about Jess crashing Rory’s car and Rory wearing a cast. Immediately after the fight Lorelai says a teary, “Chris?” into the phone.
In the same episode, Christopher and Lorelai make up from their fight and are very cozy at the movie festival showing Kirk’s film and The Yearling.
A few episodes later, Luke is “pulling a Mr. Freeze” according to Lorelai and Lorelai sleeps with Christopher the night before Sookie’s wedding (“I Can’t Get Started”).
Skip to Season 7 — Lorelai gives Luke ultimatum (“Partings”). They fight, then she goes over to Christopher’s and sleeps with him. The next morning, she’s freaked out and feels guilty for what she’s done. Chris is all happy, like he and Lorelai are finally going to be together-together, and she’s just regretful and ashamed that she used him.
Every time Lorelai is in a fight with Luke (whether they are friends or dating), Lorelai ALWAYS calls Christopher or sleeps with him, or re-establishes the relationship with Christopher in some way. When she’s feeling rejected, she runs back to the “good old shoe” as mcityrk said.
In every episode where L/L fight, IMMEDIATELY Lorelai runs to Christopher from the very first season, so no, she’s not pulling a Logan since he doesn’t come into the series until much later. And the difference between the two is that Lorelai always runs back to Christopher (her “Waiting in the Wings” man), whereas Logan runs to anyone willing.
In regard to Christopher taking advantage of Lorelai when she was vulnerable:
Think back again to the end of Season 2. Christopher doesn’t want to tell Lorelai that he and Sherry might be breaking up but she wheedles it out of him. He’s definitely not “cool” with it, he’s a tad disillusioned and upset (I said a TAD).
What does Lorelai do when she finds out Christopher’s relationship with Sherry is “on the rocks”, or as Christopher said, “Not doing so good right now…We’ll talk more when she gets back from her business trip”. That’s right! Christopher and Sherri ARE NOT broken up…and Lorelai sleeps with him the night before at the Independence Inn. Christopher said they were taking time apart and to think about the relationship. Not Broken Up. They were “on a break” (a la Ross from Friends) ;) Lorelai seized on that opportunity and his vulneribility like a vulture, in my opinion.
