Lauren Graham made a special appearance today on the Rachael Ray show. Lauren was announced as “the coolest mom on earth” with some Gilmore Girls clips set up to introduce her appearance.
Lauren admits seeing the clip kind of “freaked her out” since it was from such a long time ago (for her). She admits that the 7 years of production kind of blend together for her now. Rachael then asks if Lauren is “stuck in Lorelai”, in terms of how people see her. Lauren responds:
“I think I’ve realized I’m not, because, like anything, it’s now been 2 years since the last episode, so I’ve gotten a chance to do some other things. But, I realize that because of reruns, and just how television works now, that it’s going to be on forever. And so, for the rest of my life, people will be asking me when the Gilmore Girls movie is. And I’ll have to keep saying ‘I don’t know.’”
Lauren mentions how, for her growing up, her Gilmore Girls was Laverne & Shirley. They continue talking about Gilmore Girls (this is nice!) and how people relate to her as if she were Lorelai, with people always telling her their similarities to the Gilmore Girls characters. Lauren says it’s sweet.
Rachael asks if Lauren had ever had any weird fan reaction, one that kind of crossed the line. Lauren says it’s mainly “really friendly” and that Gilmore Girls was such a happy show. People come to watch Lauren in Guys and Dolls because of Gilmore GIrls, and Lauren feels great that she’s able to introduce people to Broadway in this way.
Lauren talks about working on Guys and Dolls, and about how taxing the 8 shows a week are on her voice. At first she would go home and avoid talking, but now she’s used to it. Still, her voice is tired by the end of the night and there’s nothing glamorous about that (so she describes)! Lauren also talks about being blonde in the show, and Rachael suggests she take the wig out for a night on the town to see if blondes really do have more fun. ;)

Coolest mom on earth? This is just ridiculous. How can people not let her alone finally with gilmore girls? Because Lorelai (not Lauren) approve of the same unhealthy food? It seems Lauren won’t get away from Lorelai so quickly.

I find it interesting that Lauren seems to “hate” Gilmore Girls now, and wants people to stop talking about it. You’d think she’d be more thankful for the show that made her popular.
I disagree with Catherine. It does not “seem” to be that Lauren hates GG.
That is the problem, misconceptions cause problems. Catherine may have a dislike for Lauren for something that she did not mean or say.
Right or wrong, I perceived Lauren saying that it is strange that people still come at her with GG stuff(she likes it but finds it strange). She did acknowledge that GG people were coming to her play and it was good.

People get angry because she tends not to say Gilmore Girls but calls it “the TV show” etc but I really don’t think she means it as a slight to the show or it’s fans!
Although she will always be Lorelai to most she is first and foremost an actor and she CAN’T dwell on that role! She prob doesn’t want to end up typecast as the witty chick! She always says that the show meant a lot to her and was an amazing thing to be part of but she needs to move on and promote her new work!
I think she would just like some more recognition for a current project – from what i’ve heard The Answer Man is FAB!
Lauren was great on Rachel Ray why can’t people asked more on whats she working on next. Like the others im sick of people asking her about the Gilmore Girls movies yeah she was amazing but her movies are awsome too. I just wih her the best of luck in the future and can’t to shes was coming up next for her.
It’s strange that she wasn’t asked about the cancelled pilot she made.Mind you the self help storyline seemed to be a poor one.
Just reading all todays post then cant wait to watch the above video as i think rachel ray and lauren are both excelent – both so bubbly. I Tivo Rachel Ray but being in the UK we are really behind and bizarlty they dont seem to be in any order.

I can understand lauren getting a bit p’d off with gettting constant questions on GG, to those of us watching GG regularly it is current to her she as moved on and probably wants to talk about the present not the past – easy way to resolve it – make GG the movie and talk about that! lol
i love lauren, let the girl move on, the gg is over,the was a fantastic show that nobody going forget,but this is over,let her do her job,like guys and dolls and her new tv show the answer man and her new movie arlen faber, we going to miss gg but i looking forward to see her do something else.she is a good actress so now she can show us what she got.go go lauren.
Uh oh Lauren, the Star Trek franchise just released their latest movie forty years after the show was cancelled! LOL! If the Gillies hang on the way that the devoted Trekkies have you might be answering that movie question for a lifetime! Revel in the fact that we like you, we really like you! Lucky you…not like Joan Collins…the woman we loved to hate who was hissed everywhere she went for years!

In the too brief moment we see her singing in the Guys and dolls, she reminds me of Lucy… I will watch You Tube and see if there is not some scenes of this show. And thanks for the posting. The video is really great.
