In ‘Bridesmaids Revisited‘, Logan’s sister Honor is getting married, and Rory ends up helping her get ready for the wedding. While there, Rory learns how Logan spent his time away from her during their break-up… and that involved spending his time with “a room full of girls you had sex with,” in Rory’s own words to Logan later.
To me, this episode harks back to Friends and Ross & Rachel’s similar fight over what happened during their “break“. Logan fooled around with all three girls during the time when Rory was still recovering from their break-up (which she didn’t even know was a real break-up). Rory says he “REALLY cheated” on her, though Logan doesn’t see it that way. He insists they were broken up and that telling her after would just hurt and upset her unnecessarily.
“I was depressed. I was lonely. I was upset. I’ve known these girls forever. It was just companionship, OK? It meant nothing.”
But does it mean something? Though Logan regained his perspective and realized how much he loved Rory, is that enough to erase how quickly he slipped back into his old ways? Do you think Logan cheated?
Can you break up with someone and not tell them, as Logan insists?
Here’s my favorite scene from this episode, which involves Rory & Doyle getting drunk to wash away their sorrows:

This is a tough one, I’ve always gone back and forth with this one as to if Logan really cheated. At times I agree with Rory, I mean come on, it was a fight and as she said people do fight. If I was Rory and found out my bf just slept with a handful of girls I’d flip out and probably act just like she did. But, on the other hand, I see where Logan thought they were broken up. He wasn’t a bf kinda guy so maybe he thought if you fight with someone it means you’re broken up. I don’t know. But I don’t think Logan would have slept with those girls had he thought he and Rory were just fine and dandy.
Logan isnt as dumb a he tried to make out. He never really had any real respect for Rory – look at how he finished with her and the way he proposed at her grand parents – it was always about him not her.
Hear hear!
I can see both sides of this as well. I think I might be able to forgive him for what he did but I don’t think Rory should have gotten back together with him because it just showed her that he’s really not a commitment type of guy in the long run. He goes to these other women for comfort and solace, and that can’t be a healthy way to deal with your problems.
Yeah,I’m agree with Rory and she is right about Logan cheat on her with three girls. He not good enough for Rory.
Hells Yeah, The Worthless Prick Cheated on Her, Jess was so much Better for Rory, Then the Blond Dick From Yale
Yeah, he so cheated on her!!
I don’t think she should have gone back to him either but I also think that you’d be hard pressed to find a 21 year old girl who hasn’t been in a similar situation and been with a guy she KNEW wasn’t good for her!
Like Jeremy said, I think Jess – esp his reformed character in this season – is better suited to Rory but Logan is a hurdle she must overcome!
Once again I marvel at the way the writers can put so much truth and realism into such a wacky and fast-paced show.
I also love the Rory – Paris dynamic in this ep!
This takes me back to Ross “We were on a break!” and Rachel (Friends for you kids out there too young to know…). It was a stupid question 15 years ago and it is a stupid question now.
He definitely cheated on her. Just because you have a fight with someone does not give you the right to assume you broke up and that you can sleep with who over you want, it doesn’t work that way. Both people must be aware of the break up to actually be broken up. Logan always makes it seems like what Rory is saying is an unecessary overeaction and only in her head, which was never true. He just wasn’t right for her.
Was Logan cheating ….. beside the point. No amount of positive attributes makes up for treating people causually and callously and being sexually numb to the point where the act with any random partner is no more important than eating breakfast or getting a haircut. Grow up dude!!
I think that Logan actually thought they had broken up. I mean, if my bf doesn’t openly break up with me, and then just disappears I wouldn’t think I’m in a relationship anymore.
However, it was totally cruel and coward of him not telling her about it and letting her find out from his sister. I’m a Rory-Logan fan, but I hated the way he handled that situation.
I’m curious (and I’d appreciate opinions)… Why do most of you like Jess so much? Except for the two times he showed up in season 6, every time he was on screen he was wether insulting Luke and Lorelai or making Rory cry. (This isn’t an attack to Jess or Jess fans, it’s just that I’ve always wondered what people found so special about him)
Caro, personally I like Jess with Rory because he is such a sensitive soul. Yeah he was a grouch up till season four but he was a classic, mixed up, teenage kid. Definitaly a flawed character but I never think he hurt Rory out of spite or even agenda – he just had to get his life on track and didn’t know how to communicate properly.
He was just a mixed up kid but when he came back, he had really pulled himself together and realised that his behaviour was wrong – Logan never aknowledges that what he did was wrong. He has also turned into someone who *gets* Rory – a perfect complement to her character – bookish and brooding, but with a deep understanding of what makes her tick.
He is also HOT! ; )
Logan really loved Rory.
Although wrong, in his mind he was not cheating, he did not want to hurt Rory in any way.
His childish immature ways with woman do not change how wrong and hurtful it was for Rory.
Should she get back together with some who really loves her, maybe.
Maybe that guy was grown up Jess.
Caro, I have never really understood why people liked Jes so much either. I agree I hated the way he treated Loreali.
Claire, Logan aknowleged breaking up with her through his sister was wrong. They weren’t together when he slept with those girls, so that wasn’t that bad. I haven’t met any guy who hasn’t slept with another girl inmediately after the break up if they had a chance -maybe that’s just a sign that I’ve been dealing with the wrong guys, though :-)
I actually liked the grown up Jess, but I think it was too late for him and Rory. Three years had passed and she had moved on. Rory only took Logan back because he returned to her almost instantly, when she was still in love with him. If he had waited three years, he would have lost her too.
I definitely agree with Claire.. now that Jess has matured.. i believe that he would not be as harsh to Lorelai and realize that she is the biggest part of rory’s life.
He would be great for Rory now
Oh and I definitely believe that Jess still had strong feelings for Rory… they obviously had chemistry going on since they kissed at his bookstore.
So, those three years did not make the feelings go away.
Caro – not just you! We’ve all encountered those kind of guys!!!
I didn’t explain what I ws saying well before – I hated the way that Logan backed Rory into a corner with this situation. The way he used almost “litigation” type speech to get himself off the hook! When he said “so therefore you realise in my minds eye we were not together when I was with them” (or something to that effect!!) All he came out with was facts but that didn’t take into account emotion – he really hurt her & doesn’t seem to really care!
As for breaking up via his sister – if Honor hadn’t have called Rory by chance do you think Logan would have told her? I don’t know.
Hope you meet a better guy btw!! ; )
Wonder Y – you really made me chuckle with that one!
Ha! I hope so too! :-)
Yeah, I see your point, Claire. He doesn’t even apologize for hurting her like that. There were definitey some scenes where I just wanted to throw a shoe at the TV when Logan was in.
But still, I think that in a general level he was the best of Rory’s boyfriends. Dean was a great first boyfriend, but it ends there. I never really warmed up to Jess. But, in my opinion, Logan was the perfect match for her: he was smart, funny and he equaled Rory when it comes to the witty comments we all love. They seemed to complement each other: she began to enjoy life more and he became somebody she could trust and who was there for her when she needed him. Btw, isn’t that another reason to love this show? Men actually CHANGE for women.
Besides, Logan had those beautiful gestures I believe every girl love, like the roof scene (it seriously made my heart melt!), the invitation to take her to Vegas for her 21 birthday and the rocket (odd, but still lovely).
I suppose Logan could have cheated on Rory, but he did have some feelings for her. Then again, the way he proposed to her was not right, and it was selfish. He gave the “love of his life” and ultimatum- and that shows just how little he cared. Rory should have stayed with Jess….HE REALLY cared about her….
Yes, he cheated on her. No ands, ifs or buts. He cheated. Only a delusional person with low self-esteem would think he didn’t.
This has nothing to do with the question but did anyone notice that Walker from this episode was on the same episode of Freaks and Geeks as Matt Czuchry was. Just an observation.
This took me right back to Ross and Rachel too. And I still believe it was not cheating in any way but shows a huge amount of disrespect and still is breakup worthy.
I think you have to have been in that situation to really get it… and I understand why Rory took him back, she was in love with him despite his past. I kinda believed Logan because he hadn’t been in a serious relationship so didn’t really know how things were meant to go after that shouting match with Rory at the pub and he just went back to his old ways. I think that really made him realise that he really was into Rory and was in love with her and only wanted to be with her. Though saying that something should’ve been said in the way of an “ending/break” by either party…
Maybe it was cheating maybe it wasn’t it doesn’t really matter what matters is that it wasn’t intentional and he apologized and he didn’t realize those idiot girls would tell her plus Jess was a jerk and ya maybe he grew up but so what why does that make him better than Logan??!? LOgan also grew up!!! He was amazing to rory most of the time like when Richard had a heart attack and he flew out by helicopter and ignored her phone !!!!
