Lauren Graham on Jimmy Fallon

Lauren Graham paid a visit to the new Late Night with Jimmy Falon show on NBC last night. Just like with her outfit earlier in the week for The View, Lauren looked amazing!

Lauren was there to promote her role on Guys and Dolls, talking at first about getting used to living in New York again after getting used to LA life.

Jimmy brings up how Gilmore Girls is such a cultural phenomenon, with Lauren responding:

“You know, for me, it’s over. Because it’s over. But it lives on. And so, like, I come to New York and I’m doing a musical, I’m wearing a blonde wig and I have a New York accent, you know I’m doing this thing that’s written in the ’50s and still, like, I walk out of the stage door at night and people are like ‘When’s the ‘Gilmore Girls’ movie??’ and I’m like, ‘OMG are you kidding me?’”

Lauren Graham says that Sex and the City changed things and it’s almost like you’re letting people down if you don’t make a movie.

Lauren talks about working on Guys and Dolls and her awe at Kelly Clarkson wanting to come backstage to meet her. Lauren shares that she loves American Idol, with Jimmy accidentally telling Lauren a spoiler, since she hadn’t caught up with all the episodes.

Ew! Apparently Lauren Graham paid a visit to Celine Dion’s vocal coach, since Broadway is taxing on the vocal chords. Jimmy shares a photo taken of Lauren Graham’s vocal chords, from a scope put in her mouth. As a joke, Jimmy and Lauren decide to ask and answer a question while singing. It’s cute. Lauren also shares her New York accent for the Guys and Dolls role of Miss Adelaide.

i love when they talk about her voice and the america idol, she is so funny i love her

  2. Paige says:

I’m kinda suprisied Jimmy Fallon actually seemed to be a Gilmore Girls fan, very cool of him lol. He got her to talk more about Gilmore Girls then usually does, which was nice.

The part about her vocal chords was hillarious, Jimmy was so grossed out and Lauren just couldn’t stop laughing. I love that she said “Dirty!” reminded me of Lorelai. A very entertaing interview.

  3. Amy says:

my sense was that Lauren probably wanted to talk about GG to send a message to remind fans that she is no longer Lorelai and to pay attention to her current work.

I just suprise Jimmy said he is huge fan of Gilmore Girls, that cool and poor Lauren, people keep ask her about Gilmore Girls movie.
I love Lauren start sing with use her voice.I love they are talk about American Idol,Gilmore Girls and etc. That awesome she love American Idol and love Kelly Clarkson lol.
That so gross that show vocal chords pic to us and Lauren cant stop laugh.Anyway Lauren is great interview and so funny

  5. Cheri says:

Really liked the interview, but then I like all of her interviews for different reasons and also just because it is Lauren. Thought the whole thing about the vocal cords was so funny. I don’t really think that Jimmy knows all that much about Gilmore Girls. Lauren said there were 5 Gilmore Girls and Jimmy didn’t catch it. If he actually knew anything about the show, he would have questioned her about it. JMO. I didn’t know that Jimmy was that good of a singer. I wish that Lauren would use her ‘beautiful singing voice’ when she sings like that on the interview shows. Sometimes I think that she is uncomforable doing so.

Thank you for posting the vid.

I understand that LG can get frustrated over questions about GG and a GG movie because she has definitely moved on.
But forever she will be Lorelai. There’s nothing to be ashamed of or frustrated about. When an actor plays an important part, is very good at it and loved for it he had to expect it.
For example, the actors from Friends will always be Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe for. I love seeing them in different things but overall they still are this group fo crazy people living in NY.

LG shouldn’t deny it. Many people are going to Broadway because they are huge fans of her through Lorelai. Many people will probably watch The Bridget Show for the same – and only – reason (I know I will).
Plus, I just think that Gilmore Girls really had a community of devoted friends and they are still not over the end of the show. Mostly because they didn’t get the decent closure they wished for.
Personnaly I support the idea of a TV movie but not a movie movie.

That said, that was another great interview. It’s just funny to notice that everythime she’s on a show she can’t help but caress her legs…

  7. Jen says:

I can’t help but feel more and more disappointed every time I hear Lauren be so dismissive of GG. She owes a lot to the show and to the fans and for her to keep trying to push it aside is a shame. I realise she wants to move on but most people know her as Lorelai so she could at least acknowledge it a bit more.

    Still, great interview.

Thanks for posting all these videos – being in the UK I don’t get to see them otherwise.

Enjoyed the interview and Jimmy appears to be starting to reach a comfort level talking to his guests that was absent early in his new gig.

I don’t think Lauren is so much dismissive as fatigued from being asked the same questions over and over again, particularly the big one about a movie that she has no control over. Sometimes in her answers she is respectful of what GG did for here, sometimes she is really funny about the job, and sometimes she is just tired of talking about it. Just depends on when you happen to talk with her.

Think how mind-numbing it would be if everytime you saw your friends all they wanted to talk about was incidents from the “old days” with no interest in what is going on in your life now.

  9. Laurie says:

If I were Lauren Graham, I would sick and tired of the Gilmore Girls coming up everytime I was interviewed.

As much as I love Gilmore Girls and Lauren Graham, I cannot imagine what it would be like to be “frozen in time” and never recognized for anything else except a character I played for seven years.

I would venture to guess that a lot of people don’t even think of her as Lauren Graham…she’s Lorelai Gilmore and always will be.

I personally understand her feelings – as much as I would absolutely love to see a Gilmore Girl’s movie. She’s probably to level of frustration at this point where if a Gilmore Girl’s movie opportunity came along, she may very well say NO! That would be a tragedy.

  10. Jenny says:

She’s always Lorelai for me. I don’t know, but it’s the way she talks and acts. When I saw Because I said so I already thought that she’s really is like Lorelai. I think that’s amazing because when I watch interviews with her, I can’t forget Gilmore Girls. It’s like I watching new episodes of Gilmore Girls. I understand that she maybe can’t hear it anymore but she said that she played herself in the show. I think she’s also sad because GG is over. It was her show and her character. I never saw an actress who was so perfect for one character. But it’s not up to Lauren. She can’t bring GG back. It’s up to Amy and the CW. I really miss GG and hope it comes back. My second favorite show was 7th Heaven and it’s also gone. I hope these shows come back. I feel very lost without them because they had a great message. No other shows, how many the CW will show in future, they can never compete with them. Gilmore Girls and 7th Heaven were different than all the other shows. I hope the CW will understand that someday and we can see new seasons on tv. Fans can’t forget amazing shows. I think Lauren understands that and knows that we can’t forget Amy Sherman Palladinos amazing show. Amys writing and the amazing actors and characters made the show so rare. Miss GG so Much;)
