The majority are correct! Gigi was short for Georgia, a fact that rather annoyed Lorelai. In episode 3.06, ‘Take the Deviled Eggs…‘, Lorelai is forced into going to Sherry’s baby shower and vents in the bathroom about the name, with how similar it is to Rory: “Two syllables, repeating consonants”. The actress who played GiGi was Nicolette Collier.
