Carole King is known to all Gilmore Girls fans, if only for her beautiful adaptation of her hit "Where You Lead" (on her album Tapestry) to become the Gilmore Girls theme-song. In the show adapted song, Carole King sings "Where You Lead (I Will Follow)" with her daughter Louise.
I thought I’d tell you a little more about Carole King’s career, including her repeat appearances on Gilmore Girls. Carole King saw early success as a singer, songwriter and pianist in the 1970s, earning four Grammy Awards. She is also a part of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Just a few days ago, Carole announced that she’ll be going on tour this summer. You can see the dates here.
Carole King made several guest appearances on Gilmore Girls as Sophie Bloom, the owner of the Stars Hollow music store.
Here is Carole King starring as Sophie in a scene of "He’s Slippin’ ‘Em Bread… Dig?"

I love Carole King and recognized her voice the first time I heard the Gilmore Girls theme song. I’m old enough to have bought her “Tapestry” album (one of my first music purchases) on vinyl when it was first released – that gives you an idea of how OLD I am!! (Reminds me of the scene when Lane, Zach and Brian are talking about how old Gill is and that he was around before CDs were invented … “Dude, you’re freakin’ me out!”)
I’m just glad that a new generation of young women might be intruiged enough to download Carole King’s music to their iPods and gain an appreciation for this EXTREMELY talented artist! I also thought it was great when Amy Sherman-Palladino gave her the part of Sophie so that she could bring music to the lives of the people of Star’s Hollow.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I hate that damn song. Worst thing about the show. I have to leave the room whenever it comes on, it is so grating.
man i love this song it totally represents us gilmore girls!!!
Does anyone know the song by Carole King that Luke and Lorelai dance to at, I think, Liz’s wedding?
I don’t know the episode name or the season but I would love to know the title of the song or some lyrics so I can attempt to find it.
