Ausiello dishes out a little more on the possibility of a Gilmore Girls movie, and Melissa McCarthy’s enthusiasm for it. Granted, it’s not really actionable news, but promising nonetheless.

Ausiello: Curses, foiled again! It’s true: I have a little scoopbit I’ve been sitting on and the secret’s been eating up my insides! Melissa McCarthy (aka Sookie) told me way back during the July press tour that she’s open to the idea of a Gilmore Girls reunion movie, although she conceded, "I’m always a little sketchy about the whole reunion-movie thing. But Amy’s such a good writer that she could write something and I’ll be like, ‘I’ll be damned, it’s really good!’" McCarthy acknowledged that the series finale felt a smidge rushed: "I don’t think they ended it how they would’ve ended it [had they been given more time]. There was a lot of talk about an eighth season. But I think the writers did a great job considering it was so last-minute. I thought it was really good that it ended with [Lorelai and Rory] reconnecting. I think that’s what people wanted. I would’ve hated to see the show go out on a sad note." Interesting factoid: Had the show returned for an eighth season, Sookie would’ve been MIA — save for a possible guest appearance or two. Unlike the rest of the cast, most of whom were on board for Season 8, McCarthy had already committed to Samantha Who? on ABC. I assumed, as I think everyone else did, that Samantha was in "second position" behind Gilmore, but that was not the case.

Wow, I was just about to post a comment about this. Good timing. This gives me another reason to be slightly (very slightly) thankful we didn’t have an eight season, at least without Amy. I’m sure Amy would have figured something out to get Sookie to be in the show for good, not just a couple guest appearances.

it would be nice if the movie happened. just to finish things up better. even though the ending wasn’t that bad. it would nice to see lorelai and luke together properly and rory and logan together. yep yep.

I will look forward to seeing MM in her new show and not worry about GG’s ending and what could have been. It’s a waste of time. When and if ASP decides to do a GG Reunion than my excitement will mount.
I agree with threehoursback about seeing Rory and Logan together again ( i was so sad when they broke up!) as well as seeing Luke and Lorelai “Officially” back together!
But GG without Sookie!!!!!!!! that’s just to weird i think it’s for the best GG didn’t come back for a season 8 as sad as it is!!!!!

I think so too. Gilmore Girls shouldn’t come back. A movie would be dissapointing and a season 8, too. This show is so far away from an end and I think a fast end of the show would be even more dissapointing then the end after the 7th season. The show ended good (there are still a lot stories they could tell), but the show ended good. Rory and Lorelai together. And I think the actors (Lauren and Alexis) don’t want to come back now. They want to do new things. But maybe in a few years they want to come back and then Amy is done with her new show, what could mean the show could get then a few more seasons. And you would see it in Laurens and Alexis face, if we get the show back this or next year. I don’t want a faced smile and I don’t want a double wedding. We loose the core of the show then! The show was about a special mother – daughter friendship and now it turns into a “Gilmore Girls and Boys” show. Sorry but if that happens I’m not the one who will watch this! That’s just horrible and my biggest nightmare!That even do nothing! Than we even have hope that the show comes back someday in the right way – for more seasons!
Let’s wait until Amys new show is over and then GG comes back for more seasons-many more
An end would be the worst mistake. I’m ready to wait – even years. But I’m not the one who will watch an end – if season 13 would be the end I would watch it. There are so many stories in the show for many more seasons… and if they end the show we’ll never see these stories. Interesting stories and drama… so much is still in this show. And end … double wedding? double pregnancy?… you loose the core of the show! – please never make a years later movie, please never make an end – that even do nothing and then we still have hope GG comes back one day for many more seasons to show the many stories who are left in it.
I’m ready to wait – I am! And I really don’t watch a movie or a season 8 to end the show because this show has still so many stories in it. Even 3 more couldn’t show all. – please don’t make an end – we wait -even years… sorry I tell everything twice but that’s my opinion and that’s how it will be ever. It’s better to do nothing – that an depressing, horrible end!
There should be a movie not everything needs 2 end perfectly with it tho.
I can finally watch my DVD’s without looking upset. I’m good with the end now. I think a movie could make things even worse. I was depressed since month and now I’m over it. A move could bring the old feelings back and could make me sad again. I’m sceptical. I think they shouldn’t make an end. Whatever, season or movie. You’re right, it could be depressing.
I hope that there is a movie but Im not holding my breath. I couldn’t imagine a dseason 8 without a full time Sookie.

Im against the movie. I’m not a crazy Rory&Logan and Lorelai&Luke fan. They are not made for each other. Rory belongs to Dean and Lorelai to Chris. Chris is Rorys bialogical father and Lorelai loves him. Not all fans love Luke and Lorelai and Rory and Logan.

I think the movie idea is a great idea, cause we could see how the REAL GG, Amy’s GG really would end.
…But i think they won’t do it.
…Cause once ended, it’s really hard to bring the whole cast back together again. The actors have other projects and plans going on…..i think it won’t happen…..unfortunately.
…I would REALLY like to see my real GG again…my Lorelai, my Stars Hollow…..the deserved ending….but i think it’s not going to happen…..

I would love to have more seasons. It’s too early for an end. I LOVE GILMORE GIRLS SO MUCH. I cry if we get an end. They should’t end this very,very,very,very,very good show. I hope it comes back and makes more seasons. I love it and I’m unhappy and sad since month.

We’re huge fans and we want the show back for AT LEAST 4 more seasons. Best would be of course if they continue the show to 13 seasons like Lauren said.Whenever, they should continue GG and make all these seasons. I don’t want an end in a form of a movie or season. The end should be season 11 or 13! It would be horrible to see a movie as an end or a season 8 as an end (so we see really a wedding as an end?-horrible). It’s too much in this show they still could show in at least 4 more seasons.
Since this will be a movie, LET IT BE that the character of Chad Michael Murray AKA Tristan Dugrey be brought back and finally ends up w/ Rory Gilmore… Long Live for all the TRORIES!!!
i’m reading these comments and i’m pissed off! why cant the cast just do one more episode,or better yet a season or a movie! i really need gilmore girls back sooo many questions are unanswered people!i want to see how rory’s job is,and if lorelai and luke’s relationship is going,and if rory and logan ever fix things between them,and how everything is going in stars hollow! i need a movie,or a season,or an episode.as long as i know everything is okay!

I would really like to think that there will be a reunion show and since none of these actors have had a decent role since the end of the show I would love to think that there could be a revival of the show on a weekly basis.
I hate the character Scott Patterson plays in that stupid little show he is on. Lauren has not had a decent roll because she is Lorelei. I haven’t like anything that Alexis Bledel has done as well.
I miss the wit and the relationships of the people in this wonderful town.
I think it would be a GRRRRT idea do make a Gilmore Girls movie! and i think it would be a fun reunion for the cast as well! And the ppl would like to see how Luke and Lorelai end up. I bet more than half of the cast would be up to the idea! But it is up to Dan and Amy to make the finale decision.
